Kairi

Fruits of Confusion

Prell sat down in a nice restaurant, enjoying his shoreleave on the strange station. Earlier, as he had walked the corridors, he had wondered what was powering the spiraling lights strung along the ceiling. For an engineer, stepping onto an unknown station or ship was a new and challenging experience.

Kairi was wandering about the station. There was so much to see and do. First thing first, she was hungry. She noticed a nice restaurant off to the side of the main promenade. As she entered, she saw a familiar face amongst all the strangers. She casually approached the table Prell was sitting at. "Hi Chief."

He looked up. "Ah, Kairi. How is your shoreleave going?"

"It's going really good. I was looking around some of the exotic shops, and I decided to get something to eat." She giggled, "Just when you think you've seen everything, something else is just around the corner."

He nodded. "It's always fun to see a new place. Care to join me for some food?"

She smiled, taking a seat across from him. "I'd love to. Have you ordered yet?"

He shook his head. "Not yet, oh, there's the waiter now."

Larish, the waiter, approached the table and handed them both a menu. "Welcome to Xrvsoihva, how are you two tonight?"

Kairi grinned, at the vibrantly blue skinned man. "Just fine, thank you. We're new here. Can you tell us what the specials are?"

Larish grinned. "Ah, yes, we have the best of our specials on today. We have Skriva meat stew, Chef's Meat and Cheese Rollups, and a Pasta Delight plate, with a side of our famous fruit."

Kairi looked over at Prell, who looked like he was hurting himself trying to understand the menu. She giggled a little as she looked back to Larish. "The Pasta Delight sounds good. I'll have that."

Prell looked up. "Ill, uh, have the same, please."

Larish smiled as he took the menus. "Excellent choices. I'll have the chef prepare them immediately." He left, walking through a set of doors at the end of the dining hall.

In the kitchen, Larish thought for a moment. The two were obviously a couple, given the way the lady was grinning and giggling. Always the romantic at heart, he decided to help them along. Preparing the plates to take out, he placed different fruits on each of their plates, smiling. "There, those will help them quite well."

About 10 minutes later, Larish returned with their plates, and two spiraling champaigne glasses.

Kairi smiled at the waiter as he served us. "Oh that looks great. Thank you very much."

Larish nodded. "Of course ma'am. I'll return shortly with your pasta plates."

Prell smiled at him. "Nice place they have here." He looked around.

She nodded in agreement. "Yes it seems quite large. Maybe it's a part of something, like a hotel maybe."

"Possibly. Do you know if Johnson finished his repair project?"

"He was just finishing up when my shift ended. Looks good so far."

Larish returned then, placing two, hot and steaming plates of different pastas before them. He also gave them a smaller plater of fruits. "Enjoy!"

"Thank you. Looks yummy," said Kairi as she looked at her plate.

Prell thanked the waiter, and tried a spoonful of the pasta. "Mmm, tastes a little like fettucini alfredo, from earth."

Kairi agreed quietly, as she began eating her pasta.

He forked what looked like a strawberry off the plater. "This isn't so bad either."

She sampled one of the berries, following it with a sip of her drink. "Yeah. It's pretty good."

Prell looked at Kairi strangely.

Kairi giggled as she ate a couple more of the berries. "Is it getting warm in here?"

Prell stuck a finger around the inside of his collar. "Yes, yes it is."

She smiled as she drank more of her champagne. For some reason she couldn't take her eyes off of Prell.

Likewise, Prell was finding it hard to make his fork find his mouth, he was staring and thinking at Kairi so much. Something told him something was amiss, but he shrugged it off and attempted to finish his dinner.

Kairi looked around, then back at Prell. She smiled, as they locked eyes. "Would you like to go for a walk? Maybe that'll help cool things off."

He nodded. "I'd like that." He stood up, and dumped some credits onto the table.

Kairi got up as well, following after Prell.

Before the break: Larish watched as the two stood up and left the restaurant, not able to keep their eyes off each other. He smiled and shook his head. "Works like a charm every time...."

---------------------

Hours later, Kairi began rustling about. She was just starting to wake up, and felt unusually warm, but was quite comfortable. As she openned her eyes, the first thing she saw were spots. Spots? Had she been drinking? It took her a moment, but she soon recognized them as Trill spots. Kairi lifted up her head from Prell's chest. What was happening? She looked around the room. It wasn't familiar to her. Perhaps they were in a hotel room. It was then she noticed a pile of clothes tossed across the room. Kairi sunk back into the bed. "Oh no."

As Kairi moved deeper into the bed, Prell woke slightly, with a groggy head. "Mmhuh?"

Kairi wasn't sure what to do. She wasn't even sure how she got into this situation. All she knew was that she was laying in a bed, naked, with her boss.

Prell streched his legs and arms, as he normally did when waking up. Though today, he felt something soft, fleshy next to him, and his eyes snapped open. "What the....?" He looked over and saw Kairi.

"Um...Good morning?" was the only thing that came to her mind.

Prell almost laughed, but the situation didnt warrant a laugh. He sat up so quick his head swam in dizziness, and fell off the side of the bed.

Kairi covered herself in the silk sheets, leaning over the bed. "Chief, Javin, are you alright?"

On the floor, he grasped for a sheet, but only managed to pull the one she was clasping towards himself.

She reached down and tried to help him up.

He looked up, and accepted her hand, covering himself. "Ok..what happened....?"

She sat up, covering herself agin in the sheets. "I...I...don't know..." Looking over at the clothes at the other side of the room again. "Did we...?"

He looked at the clothes pile. "I, we...."

Kairi flopped back on the bed, giving a big sigh.

"Oh boy....." What had happened? Prell thought back to his last thoughts....before he had woken up. He gasped. "OH, damn."

She sat back up, trying to figure what to do. "What now?"

"It was the fruit. It had to be."

She nodded, placing her head in her hands. "I can't believe this..."

He looked at her, then looked away. "I, uh, I'll go back to the Agincourt...."

Kairi quietly nodded. "Oh...alright..."

Javin quickly threw his clothes on, opened the door, peeking out first, then walking out, shutting the door behind him. He stopped against a wall a few meters down the corridor and just stood there. "What the...."

Kairi layed back down in the bed, staring at the ceiling. Confusion sat in. Confusion of what happened, but more importantly, confusion about what was going to happen next. Was this just a freak accident, or was there something more to this?
