LoAmi

At gunpoint -- SD 50701.11

Never before was a Starfleet officer so relieved to have a phaser pointed in his direction. Sure, he was fearful. But, he was under the emotional control provided by decades of Starfleet service and training that prevented him from letting the fear take control. And, yes, he was relieved. Cmdr. Lo'Ami considered every moment that he could not give the order to fire on the Borg cube to be a chance to save Dr. Knollwatcher.

All logic said they should destroy the Borg cube while it was weak. But Cmdr. Alces' plan did something that the pure logic of the situation couldn't. The plan to destroy the cube from within gave him hope that they could rescue the doctor from servitude to the Borg collective.

The Starfleet side of him, the side that was focused on protecting Arcadia and its control center, the bridge, took over. He ordered Ryan Trenton to drop the phaser that Trenton had pulled from Marx's hand through the air. After refusing to return it at Marx's insistence, Trenton obeyed the commander's order. Lo'Ami didn't quite understand what Trenton was or why he still at least had some respect for the authority of command. But, he would have to use it while it lasted. He didn't trust the telekinetic time-traveling being and his mysterious prophecies. He wasn't at all convinced that Trenton wasn't lying when he claimed not to have committed sabotage on Arcadia. And now, Trenton was insistent that they not destroy the damaged Borg cube. If all went according to Alces' plan, that's just what the away team was going to do, albeit without the barrage of torpedoes. That's why he quietly gave the order to Marx. As long as Trenton continued was helpful, he should be kept around. But if he does anything to reveal himself as a threat, Marx would know what to do.
