Cadets log final Academy log

This is it, after 4 years of grueling classes, demanding, but ultimately helpful Professors, and getting to know so many great and intelligent Cadets, I'm graduating.

I'm sitting in my quarters, packing my boxes, pausing now and again at a particular piece of nic-nac and remembering fondly where it came from, and wondering just when an item goes from 'junk, slated to be tossed' to 'memoir the un-tossable'.

Pausing in my packing, I stare out my window at the perpetually clear and sunny San Fransisco afternoon. This is it, a two week leave to say good bye and await my transfer orders and I'm off.

I wonder which ship it will be? My friends all seem to know what ship they want, based on name, style, color, zodiac sign and I don't know what else. I on the other hand, don't seem to have a clear front runner yet.

It dawns on me that what I am really taking from the Academy will not fit in this box. The tools I have now don't fit on a utility belt. The Academy has given me or allowed me to earn, as Prof. Dufour was found of saying, confidence.

Confidence in myself, well ya, but I had that buried beneath pride before I came here. No, this is confidence in others. A sense of knowing without a doubt that the person next to me will do their job, will come up with ideas, will help me. That I do not have to try and do it all myself. Thats what I am taking from the Academy.

Well, that and this fluffy Academy robe. Oh and these Academy slippers.

::Walks out of room leaving the box un-packed, but certainly not empty handed.::

Congrats! Yay! It seems as though you, myself & Kevin are like the class of '07 at the moment! ;0)

I know huh? I was thinking the same thing, only I havent Sim'd with you yet. I have read some of your mission logs though, and look forward to simming. Who knows the three of us may get stationed on the same ship!

That'd be awesome.. almost like a ready-made storyline. It'd be interesting to start a sim off with people we could've known in the Academy. ;0)

You have a neat idea Danika. Im open to it, would certainly make logs and joint logs more fun and get us all started. Hanging out at the lounge etc. Just need to find a ship that meets on days we are open, and have three positions open that we can fill.

Ill leave a note with Kevin on your idea, see what he thinks.

Kevin thinks it's a good idea:P... seriously, I was thinking that if we do end up on the same ship/station, which would have to be Aegis in my case, because I really can't make any others, we could do that. We should talk to the GM first if it's okay, but generally I like the idea. Been working on my biography and been working on getting to know more about science stuff.

I just thought it'd be a sweet idea if we ended up on the same sim. I don't think the GM's would have a problem, as long as it didn't interrupt the whole sim's storyline on a whole. It'd just be a nice sidestory. ;0) I'm most likely going for Aegis. Just need to get the application.

BTW, looking up science stuff .. have you seen the Star Trek wiki, Memory Alpha? I used that to help me come up with a few things for my bio.

Ah, the Bio, right... Back story and all that. Ya, I gotta start that as well.

Indeed I have and I learned quite a few things. I shall go back to that whenever I have a problem.

I finished mine yesterday. Though I am sure I will go over it several times & make revisions. I'm such a perfectionist. :oP

Sure, side stories are great and help fill the gaps when you aren't the star of the plot. Of course, it isn't always easy to find the same time when all three of you can sim, so keep in mind that you can try and find a sim that has a GM that you know from the Academy or maybe some of the advanced players that were in some of your Academies, too. As long as there is someone you know by "sight," it can help. In addition, a lot of sims have mentors for new players, to help the Ensigns feel more at home (or convince them that the photon torpedo tubes are really the new Ensign quarters - all depends on the style of the sim, eh?)

Welcome to you all!

Atragon9, you bring up (or made me think of) a good point. Even if we cant all get on the same Duty Station, that still leaves things like what ever the equivalent to email is in Star Trek between the characters trying to stay in touch, and occassionally run into each other.

Very true. Subspacing back & forth to each other would also be neat. Like.. letters to an old friend. It can even go into each other's sims a bit & special guest starring could be fun. Like cameos on TV! :0)

Ok dang. That was a great bio Danika. You set the bar a bit high though, unless we are talking about the Limbo...

Heh, thanks. I worked a LOT on it. I revised it several times. Tweaked this, messed with that. My perfectionist ways can be tedious! :0P I can't wait to read your biography!

You have to remember that several sims are not set in the same timeframe. Agincourt for example is set in the past Voyager era and the Hood is our TOS sim. Oh, and sending subspace messages from the Talon to a Starfleet vessel and vice versa is probably not a good idea either :D .

True.. we'll just have to see what happens. ;0)
