A Conrant on the Reality Shows

Okay the following is a conrant (concern and ranting):

"Armed and Dangerous" - a new reality show in which several actors/personalities (Jack Osbourne and Erik Estrada to name a couple) will train and work as police officers.

That is just so stupid. Where is the line drawn? Heck, forget the line - Armed and Dangerous just went over it.

First of all, there is no waythese people are going to be put into any "real" danger. I don't care how many waivers have been signed, if one of those actors takes a bullet to the head, dead is dead. And if they are put into danger, the producers are nuts, and the people that signed up to do the show need their head examined (provided it hasnt been shot off!). Leave the police work to the real police, and don't insult the force by doing a reality show with non cops playing at cops and robbers.

I myself have watched/will watch - "Survivor", "Viva La Bam", "Little People, Big World" (this one is excellent, about a family, both parents are little people, three of the four kids are full size, with the fourth son a little person) and "Big and Rob". These reality shows are for entertainment, I get that, and some can be downright educational (like, dont be a "Jacka$$" - you'll get hurt).

But, the reality show craze is really veering into Stupidville, if "Armed" is any indication. I swear my brain lost a few cells just looking at the advertisement on TV.

Comments? Thoughts? Defense?

I find most reality shows to be lacking anyway. So, I've stopped paying attention to all of them except Ghost Hunters. :0)

My head hurts thinking about that show almost too much to even remember that I think it is call Armed and Famous. Either way CBS needs to step it up a notch. I know the commercial you are talking about, and I swear Estrada has to wear dentures. Never mind the wig, but those teeth... After all those years of playing a cop on a motocycle you would think there would be a little coffee yellow or bug green or something...

I havent been a big fan of these reality shows over all, but a fun "Sit com" moment in real life happened to me a few days ago.

I came home from work after I found and joined this site and started rambling on to my Wife how I joined this cool club, and I have my first mission on so and so, and... and you get the picture.

I noticed that she was watching TV and the show was none other than Beauty and the Geek. Totally walked into that pit trap... It actually wasnt a bad show that I saw at least. Beauties crying over the Dewey Decimal system, Geeks asking guys to rub sun tan lotion on their backs afraid of the women...

Beauty & the Geek wasn't actually too bad. But they need to do a season where the geeks are GIRLS! ;0P

Can we say "I Love New York". It's amazing its like watching Jerry Springer meets Reality show. It's a train wreck that you can't seem to look away. If anyone really wonders what are society is turning into watch this show and you will be afraid.

That is the only ghost show I've watched where they try very hard to debunk thier own findings week after week! :-) Solid show, with no BS.

Whoops. Thanks for title correction. "Beauty and the Geek" I have seen the advertisments for that. I swear I saw one of them give the Spock "live long and prosper" thing.

I thought Dancing With The Stars was stupid, at first.

But don't despair Jonesy, CBS is going to pull out all the stops in 2008 and hopefully we'll see a new Star Trek television series that'll knock our socks off. If they know what's good for them! :D

We'll just have to stomach Boston Legal's antics a while longer.

My Mom gets a charge out of "Dancing". I would be up for a new Trek series, or a "Firefly" comeback. Boston Legal - never got into that. Even the advertisments turn me off with the silliness (I can be a REALLY tough critic, but I know what I like and dont like.)

"Viva la Bam" is about a punk kid with money. I hate that show...

I can take it in small to medium doses. At times, I have laughed out loud at the sheer stupidity and craziness.
