The Academy

Is it possible for me to work on the Academy spuradically? I am a busy person and cannot always be on. Even tonight, I may not be abel to be on. If I do, however, graduate, I don't really care to what ship I am assigned, but I would liek to request assignment to Excalibur or Challenger. (in that order)

Yea. You don't have to attend every academy, every day. Academy attendance always has and always will be optional. Of course, the more academies you attend, you are simply more likely to graduate quicker (though this certainly isn't always the case, as we graduate players based on their abilities). Simply attend the academies on the days and times that best fit your schedule.

And another good idea is to try and attend the ssame academies each week, so that the same GMs get to see you and can notice your ongoing gameplay.

Oh and Welcome!

There's no problem coming to academies once a week or once every two weeks. What Seiben and A9 said are both good advice. We understand real life concerns. When you do graduate, though, you should definitely choose a ship you can reasonably expect to show up at every week.

So it is ok and maybe encouraged to attend multiple academies? Im new to the concept of online simming like this, and would enjoy getting as much practice as possible. Makes sense to try and hit the same couple for the GMs to get to know me though.

As an experienced simmer, my recommendation is hit multiple academies to get a feel for STSF's gameplay, and then, when you're ready to take it as seriously as RL allows, stick with one or two specific nights. If weeknights are a concern, then Friday, Saturday and Sunday Academies are an excellent option (Except around the holidays, if they fall on weekends). Overseas? Well, can't say much about that, other than go to sleep early, and have plenty of coffee ready. Or use the weekend Academies and advanced sims.

And welcome.

Yes, you can attend as many academies as you want. If you attend more academies, you can, perhaps, be a bit less picky at always attending the same ones (because you'll likely hit the same GMs more than once).

We do talk to each other for the purposes of graduating cadets, and that works to the cadet's advantage. But, many GMs want to see a cadet more than once themselves before graduating. The advice to someone who doesn't attend academies often, then, may be a bit different than the advice to someone who isn't constrained by real life commitments into choosing which few academies to attend.

Welcome to STSF!
