What Did We Get?

Okay, give give give - what did everyone get?

I myself rec'd a very pretty 1Ok gold/diamond pendant necklace in the shape of - can you guess - a cat! I know, that comes as a bit of a shock, that whole cat thing. :-P

Overall though, it was wonderful holiday time spent with family. Hope y'all had a good one as well.

I know what I didn't get: round-trip tickets to a lushy, green and tropical country.

Ah well, maybe next year.

Carvel Ice Cream Cake. But that was not holiday related.

As for everyone who gave me holiday and 'Black Sunday' gifts:

Comcast thanks you.

National Grid thanks you.

Keyspan thanks you.

Super Stop & Shop thanks you.

My landlord thanks you.

My credit card company thanks you.

Deutsche Telekom thanks you.

Pho Pasteur on Washington Street thanks you.

::nod::

As long as I never owe, I strongly believe that refund time is now the new holiday season.

I'll buy myself something nice then. :P

I'm very much enjoying the new optical mouse I got via the paternal cash donation. It's about time my tech-rodent moved into the 21st Century. As for the rest... I haven't finished shopping yet. :P

A NEW CAR!!!!!

Okay... not really.

I was too naughty in 2006.

Next year I'll probably be just as naughty, but will hide it better. Muhahahahaha.

Other than the Xbox 360 I've been playing nonstop since yesterday, my favorite gift was Season 1 of La Femme Nikita - yet another show that I wish were still on TV. But at least there are a total of 5 seasons (as opposed to Firefly's paltry 1 season), so I have something to look forward to next year.

Friends, it seems so long since I have chatted here or with my game family. I missed everyone Monday night.

Christmas this year was just wonderful. My son surprised me this year and came west to visit. He brought his wife and two girls. I was just beside myself. My kids got together and got me the most beautiful, soft and warm cashmere coverlet. But, the best gift was having them all here again with me.

I hope you all had a beautiful and Merry Christmas, besides any gifts you may have received.

A stylish shirt

A new computer

And whatever my girlfriend gives me when I get back home :P

I think for the first time in about 6 years I had a calm and relaxed Christmas. The only thing that was missing was snow and we're getting it now...exatlc 12 hours before I'm going to leave... I bet my right arm that all trains will have at leats a 1 hour delay and I'll get home around midnight tomorrow which means I'll have to walk toe 5 kilometers from the station. (gotta remember to buy new gloves before I leave)

I got a book and a ticket to a concert and I spent some quality time with my family. Since I get to see them only once or twice a year that's always the important part about Christmas.

Best gift: New dig camera to replace the gigantic dead old dig camera

Worst gift: A free calender that came with a packing order that got wrapped up and given to me, lol. I got some soap too, but it smelled like food so that's not so bad.

I got Love Actually, Serendipity, and Monty Python's Life of Brian on DVD. I wub them. :P

For computer I got Star Trek: Legacy and Civilization IV. Do not buy Star Trek: Legacy. It's a terrible, terrible game. Civilization IV is awesome though.

And I have enough candy and chocolate to hospitalize myself.

LOL!!! Okay, since someone else said it, I'll jump in. I also rec'd this for Christmas, the 360 version.

Legacy does many things well. However, said things are not brought together very well. After about two hours of gameplay, I had that one eye squinty twitch thing going on trying to get my fleet of ships to do what in the blue be danged blazes I wanted them to do.

Granted, the two hours consisted only of the tutorial mission and the first mission, both set in ENT era. First impression - this game will require a lot of practice, and tactical trial and error to get through the missions.

I have no idea what the multiplayer is like. I haven't ventured my cowardly self on line to get hammered yet. :P

If you're a die hard Trek gamer, I would recommend renting it for 360, to see if you'll like it. Computer wise, wait a bit for the price drop, then go for it.

If anyone needs me, I will be running around Oblivion with my Level 10 Kitty Nightblade (big time recommendation for THIS 360 game). Thank you. :-)

I don't see the cable jack where it sticks directly into your brain like a Borg.

(And watch out, Garn, or I'll use my soap on YOU.)

Careful, Huff. If I've learned anything from Christmas, I've learned that soap poisoning causes blindness.

Anywho, I got a new shotgun and a paintball gun. Oh, and also the Far Side Gallery 2007 calendar (woop!). One of my best friends gave me Spaceballs and Ferris Bueller, too, so I'm pretty pumped about those. The best present was that I got to come home and spend some time with mom and dad (and time away from college work)!

Avoid even the PC version. I picked it up, with giftcards, so no great loss, and figured "Hey, maybe the problems are only console based". Legacy requires, as a minimum a 128MB video card and 512MB system memory, and even that lags terribly (I'm running an Intel E1505 Core Duo w/ 1GB system memory and 128MB video). The game emulates the console versions, to the point where there are no keyboard shortcuts. Subsystem targeting doesn't work, once you get a target lock, it takes just about forever to clear it. About the only advantage over the console games, the cheat codes are actual software mods. A lot of game review sites say basically the same thing: Legacy had the potential to be the great ST game, but it the only legacy it leaves is frustrations.

It's a bit late, but I thought I'd join in. :0)

This year I got:

- Well, first, I had my second child in October so it was her first Christmas! That was an awesome gift.

- Also my first Christmas being married.

- New digital camera!!!

- The "Eragon" book.

- Tons of chocolate-y things to ruin my diet this year.

- New clothes that I won't fit into after eating all the chocolate-y things.

- New cellphone.

- A karaoke CD!

- Learning we are moving to a bigger place in March!

- Lots of love.

No jewelry .. but I fully expect that on Valentines! ;0)

Plan B: I'm going to use the trade in value toward "Gears of War"(or something).

Honestly, I have no desire to complete the game (mainly to keep doing the tactical trial and error). If "Legacy" had a save anywhere feature, that would be different. But, one mistake or error, and you are right back at the beginning of the mission. Concievably, you could spend hours on a mission (trying to find the correct tactical route) that should only take at tops thirty minutes; thats the impression I'm getting from the game.
