It's worth seeing.

NO......FRIGGIN.......WAY! Seriously?? I watched the old animated series, and even that was so boring, but it was distinct, since it was animated. With Spielburg's fancy shmancy grafix, i figured it would be impossible to see a robot, just a heap of shiny metal parts.

=P :)

I seen it, and it is worth seeing. It's like the Batman with Jack Nicholson - not worth all the hype, but definitely worth the 6 bucks (at the time) to go see it.

There is not really as much CGI as you would expect. Of course the Transformers themselves are CGI because they have to be but all the explosions and stuff are live action.

You do realize of course that the movie is directed by Michael Bay, and Steven Spielburg is only producing it? I.E., he is only paying for it. Not to mention Spielburg tends to stay away from CGI more than most directors nowadays (including Michael Bay).

Which leads me to my question about the Transformers movie for anyone who's seen it. How was the editing? Classic Michael Bay? Way to fast editing? Can't hold a shot for more than 10 seconds?

It's worth seeing. I enjoyed Transformers and the CGI, and despite the GM product placement it more than fufilled my expectations. :)

I'd rather have all the GM product placement in the new Transformers than the Ford product placement in the live action Thunderbirds movie, from a few years ago. Of course, who's next to sponsor a movie, Chrysler?

Probably GM. Whatever Ford does, GM follows.

Not always. It's usually the other way around. And I haven't seen Ford have any real significant military contracts in years, unlike GM.

They already did. The Fantastic 4's new jet in Rise of the Silver Surfer was a Dodge.

Ya know, I forgot about that. And let's not forget the 7-11/Qwik-E-Mart tie in for the upcoming Simpsons Movie. They're even selling Frosted Krusty-Os. :) :)

I'm just waiting to see if one of the big beer makers (Anheuser-Busch, Miller, Coors, Labatt's, Molson, etc.) is going to license the Duff label.

The series had some serious potential; I don't think we've heard or seeen the last of Firefly/Serenity.

I think we have. When Firefly first came out, I didn't watch it. If I did see ads for it, I tuned it out thinking it wasn't something I'd like. What they failed to do in the ads was promote the comical side of it, which is what made it as big as it is. The same goes for StarGate SG-1. I saw Serenity come out, but never rented it or saw it for some reason. When I did, I instantly loved the show. I did end up watching the series when it was shown on Sci-fi at some point and I picked up the whole series box set.

However the movie was the last throw. They can't go back to it even if they wanted too. Too many problems were resolved and other issues would arise. It just wouldn't be the same.

One week until the Simpson's movie.

Or, 6 days, 15 hours and 22 minutes.

I like the scene in Batman Begins when Batman is driving through (and above) downtown Gotham (filmed on location in downtown Chicago including Lower Wacker Drive, site of another famous fictional police chase) and he is crashing into buildings, road signs, trees, guard rails, etc. but even after the cops stoped chasing him he was still crashing into things right up to the dirt road leading to what will eventually become the Bat Cave beneath Wayne Mannor.

Don't you think the police would eventually think "Hmm, there is all this destruction leading to this dirt path just wide enough for that blacik tank thing. Gee, I wonder if this path goes somewhere."?

Nah. They're Gotham police. They're corrupt, not very good at their job, and they don't try very hard.

Actually, if you leave off the corrupt part, I just described my local police perfectly.
