Seriously, WTF is a 67-year old man doing watching Dancing With The Stars anyway? It's a chick show. Heck, even I only watch the Bristol parts. (I keep praying for a wardrobe malfunction but it never happens.)

I wasn't dancing. I'm for anything and everything that can make the BCS look foolish. I want to see Auburn and Oregon lose. I wanted to see Boise State and TCU win out. And then a team like Stanford or LSU leapfrog one (or both) of those teams to play for the national title. Even though neither of those teams won their conference and they both -lost- to Oregon and Auburn respectively. Of course Boise State losing throws a monkey wrench into that, but both Oregon and Auburn still have a game to lose.

Anything that moves college football towards an 8 or 16 team playoff I am all for (I'd prefer 16, but I'll go with 8).

Wanted by many Tang, but the kids have to start the next semester. These are students here, not pro atheletes. Like it or not they have to hit the books again January.

I don't care for the BCS either, especially how it the computer's have their favorite conferences "builit in with a certain difficulty level. The BCS worships the SEC, BIG12 and BIG 10..they need to ease up on the computers liking for these conferences.

Oh and the Boise State game ...frak That kicker needs to be "watched for the next several weeks".

And now for something completely different: After watching NATGEO show what an Orca did to a Great White Shark on Tape, those animals are too smart to be at amusement parks. Let'em loose.

These college football kids (some schools more then others I'm sure) are treated like kings, something which I don't agree with. I always had to hold my temper when the sports jocks got to go ahead of the general student population in order to pick classes. Why? Just because they play for the school? So...the rest of the students don't really matter?

And, I'm not a complete so and so: I know there are kids out there, male and female, who love to play and yet probably do really well in their marks as well.

My point is, there's a lot of sports grooming/preferential treatment that goes on within the college male sports population -- let alone those big dolts on the professional sports teams, our so called 'heroes' -- and it's just assinine.

Myself, I've never been able to get over how much money is put towards Sports. Forget upgrading our schools with top of the line equipment and a curriculum that is not antiquated. Let's pay some jock millions to throw a ball around. :D

Did you know that a sports franchise directly generates on average 55 million dollars game day revenues to the cities/counties/states? Not to mention an average of 400 full time jobs in and around their communities, and just about that many part-time gameday related jobs?

I think the problem you should have is the way in which cities manage those revenues, a good portion of which is spent on gameday itself.

I think you for that bit of information Lexi. I did not know this. I am just sick and tired of our educational system taking a back seat..

Watching the original "Tron" movie, I just realized that Bruce Boxleitner and Peter Jurasik are in it (as Tron and Crom) and they will meet again as Captain Sheridan and Londo Molari in Babylon-5

True for some, Crash, but not for all. One such school that does not adhere to that rule is Penn State. JoePa's thought: it's just a game. What happens in life after the game is what really matters - IE: life matters, not football.

One small example: anyone in the team messes up and the entire team cleans the stadium - after every game - and the team pays the kids who normally do it. Happened in 2007:

Taking out the trash

By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports

May 22, 2007

This spring, six Penn State football players were arrested and charged for crimes stemming from an off-campus fight in which at least 15 Nittany Lions were present. The charged included a couple of star players, although what apparently bothered coach Joe Paterno the most was how many of his kids were willing to be involved.

And so Paterno, 80 now but no less tough, no less disciplined, hatched a plan to set things right within his program. He'll let the local legal and student judicial process play out, but regardless he decided that to keep people from thinking his team was trash, it'll spend the fall cleaning it up.

According to Paterno, the Penn State football team will clean Beaver Stadium after each home football game this fall. It'll gather garbage, sweep stairs and maybe even hose parts down.

It'll be Notre Dame on Saturday, nacho spills on Sunday.

It's a job that usually goes to members of club sports on campus – say, rugby or crew – which do it to raise money so they can compete. Paterno said the clubs still will get the $5,000 for the job, but his guys, fresh off playing 60 minutes of major college football the day before, will do all the work starting Sunday morning.

"We're all going to do it, everybody," Paterno told the Harrisburg Patriot-News after a banquet in suburban Philadelphia. "Not just the kids that were involved. 'Cause we're all in it together. This is a team embarrassment. I wouldn't call it anything much other than that."

Another thing - the players do not wear their names on their uniforms. It's a team, not an individual effort.

I know there are other colleges and universities out there who do the same. I just happen to know a lot about Penn State.

Still, I agree that there are some schools that put too much emphasis on things that, in the grand scheme, matter little.

Penn States Joe Pa is very old school. Would not want to mess with the man. And, when the team takes the field, those unadorned Penn State uniforms are a link to a retro past when the uniforms weren't all decorated so to speak - no names, no helmet symbol, no stickers all over the helmet for in game accomplishments. Just that white and blue (original team colors were black and dark pink....I'll take the blue and white) comin' at ya.

Thanks for the article on Penn State Commander J! I shoulda known the PS coach wouldn't put up with any nonsense.

Happy is completely acceptable, especially when it's a good game.

I can be very opinionated is all, mainly towards the preferential treatment of some pro football teams/individual players and that opinion spills over at the colleges at times.

Re: Leslie Nielson. Naked Gun is one of the funniest films *ever*. Anyone ever catch him in his earlier career films when he played serious roles? Rest in Peace.

Leslie Nielsen! Can hardly believe he's gone. I'll show my age and say that he was my first heart-throb as Francis Marion in The Swamp Fox. Wonderful actor, great person!

Godspeed, Leslie!

It's a shame hearing about Leslie Neilsen's passing. :D I remember him from Airplane and the Naken Gun movies. He was a funny man and a great Canadian.

I remember him as the Captain of the RMS Queen Mar...I mean, SS Poseidon from the first Poseidon Adventure. A very...brief role.

And lets not forget his portrayal of Commander J.J. Adams in Forbidden Planet

FIFA Having the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is like the NHL playing their annual winter classic to Trinidad and Tobago. Or the NFL holding the Superbowl in Papua New Guinea.

There. . .I've said my peace.

Okay, I cannot link it. But I never thought snow would behave so much as sugar or salt.

Check out the video of the Snow "Pouring" into the Metrodome..In Minneapolis-St Paul.

Vikings do need a new Stadium.

Just had a moment with regard to Holiday songs airing on the radio: Air Supply singing "Winter Wonderland". Air Supply? Really? Holy 1980's Batman! Does every singer/band out there need to record a version of a Holiday song, like a mandate or something?

I admit though, I like the "Grinch" rendition by a band calling themselves the Whirling Dervishes.

Okay, continue with your daily stuff. The whole Air Supply Christmas song thing just threw me off...God help me if the Bieber Spawn of Annoying has a Holiday CD out...please tell me he doesn't...
