I've never understood the scoring rules of Bowling, but good for you.

If you get a strike ( 10 pins down first attempt ) you add the next two throws to your score. If you get a spare ( 10 pins down in one frame consisting of two attempts ) you add the next throw to your score. If you don't get 10 pins down, you just add the number of pins you knock down. There's 10 frames ( attempt pairs ) to go through: if you get a strike in the tenth frame, you get two more throws. If you get a spare in the tenth frame, you get one more throw.

A "300" is a perfect game: all 10 pins down at every attempt. I believe winning two "expert" minesweeper attempts is easier.

I'm taking a minute to convey certain feelings I've been repressing ...

I HATE SNOW.. SNOWSTORMS, SHOVELING ,COLD ...

Why was I born in Canada?!!?

Thank you for your time

Why do you think the McKenzie Brothers used to have a map that said "The Great White North" behind them?

You know, I feel your pain and wonder the exact same thing sometimes. Could be worse though, at least I don't live in Wyoming.

I've always wnted to go to Canada, but I don't have the time, money, transportation, or legal papers to go to another country.

I went to Canada, brought back tons of those cool little pennies they have, and sold them to the neighbor kids for five cents each.

If there is one band that brings out what can be considered beautiful in grunge music, that band is Alice in Chains. Their grunge overtones accompanied with their blend of acoustic tones and the haunting harmony between Staley and Cantrell, while still holding true to the sound of the time, exudes both a vulnerability and sorrow that not many other bands have captured before. No where is this more true than in their song "Nutshell" off their Jar of Flies album. Although the song touches on an oft repeated subject, Staley's heroin addiction, its softer acoustic tone releases the aforementioned vulnerability. In just two short verses, it speaks to everything that his addiction has torn away from him, portraying a helplessness that only those of us who have walked that same mile, or those of us who have experienced a loved one in that condition, can truly understand.

With that being said, its controversy surrounding its inherent subject matter can either enhance or mask its beauty for the listener, dependent upon ones point of view. It represents a dichotomy of aesthetics on multiple levels. There are those, as mentioned above, who relate to the song via personal experience, then there are those who do not believe that such a subject matter is possible of producing anything that can be considered artistic or beautiful. There are those who open themselves up, not only to the lyrics, but to the music itself as well, allowing themselves to feel the sorrow in their own ways as it pertains to their life, and then there are those who fear that notion, and close their minds to the vulnerability, not allowing the emotion to penetrate their soul, therefore not gleaning any personal meaning.

Consequently, this song, although not of the more traditional grunge sound, still encompasses what the genre was all about; a stripped down version of rock, meant to portray the art of rock music without the glamor and excess that had permeated it in the previous decade. Appearance is secondary, whereas emotion is primary.

That is my random music note of the day, or month, or year.

I've never been one for grunge rock, it's pretty good (There are very few music styles that truelly dislike), but my favorite is classic rock like the Beatles, The Who or Queen (Queen kicks all kinds of ***).

I rather enjoy the festive, over-the-top stuff like Alice Cooper and White Zombie / Rob Zombie. Alice in Chains is excellent, of course, but I'd have to say one of my all time favorites is Siouxie and the Banshees.

Alice Cooper is good but I'm not so much a fan of Rob Zombie. Ohh yeah you know what I just found out? Canada is officially awesome, for it is the birth place of William Shatner (You guys probably already know that, but I think it's cool).

I've gotten the same reaction when I have Linkin Park or some such blaring out of the car speakers. It's like when you hit a certain age or are in a demographic you havta listen to certain music. ::shrugs::

Obviously people are just not open minded.

Oh man, I listen to such a wide variety of music I can't even list it. Right now I'm on a real Disturbed, Static-X and Rammstein binge.

Just make sure your kids grow up listening to you rocking out and having a blast with your wife doing it. Mine did, and they love listening to music with me that I can understand.....but they are kids. After a while, they want to change the music,.... At least we get along for a couple of minutes at a time.

Christmas Songs! Let's discuss:

Local stations are all running Christmas songs in keeping with the season. On that note, there are certain artists who should not be allowed anywhere remotely near Yuletide songs:

Bruce Springsteen for his "half talk, half croon" version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Dude, stick with Born in the USA.

The Beach Boys for Little St. Nick and Santa Clause is Coming to Town. Must. Not. Freak. Out. They. Need. To. Stay with. Beach and Surfing tunes.

On the positive side, Taylor Swifts version of Santa Baby is pretty good, *maybe* even better then Madonnas "Betty Boop" version.

However, the original, 1953 jazzy version of Santa Baby - sung by Eartha Kitt - is still the best.

On a completely random note, Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer? Funny, yet depressing.

Can't sleep....the Christmas songs'll get me....can't sleep....

Happy Holidays all. w00t!

Dylan and Little Drummer Boy

This is why I have almost 10 hours on my iPod and iTunes. Including a Glenn Miller swing version of Jingle Bells w00t!

I have come to the realization this year that I *detest* "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts roasting..." etc.) as well as The Little Drummer Boy and "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth."

There's a song (originally French, I think) called "The Friendly Beasts" which I discvoered many years ago and which no one seems to have ever heard of but me, but I highly suggest you check it out.

I've never liked too many Christmas songs. . .but if I had to choose any to listen to they would be:

Santa Claus and His Old Lady - Cheech and Chong (Not really a song, but cut me a break)

Donde Esta Santa Claus - Augie Rios

Happy Christmas - John Lennon

HELLO!!! I'm back, sorry for being gone so long, I was sort of grounded for a bit, and then I had a whole bunch of Holiday stuff I had to do. So how is everyone doing?

Okay, I may have to make this into it's own topic:

Hats. Covers. Headdress. Chapeau. Caps. Tams. Berretts (sp). Helmets. Others?

What would you picture the characters wearing in the shows and movies?

And what about 'stinkin' badges?' Like wings, or infantry?

(Random thoughts.... MUST STOP! Buffer overload....)
