I actually miss that about living in Santa Ana. I've seen more rain here in Ohio in the past month then I think I saw in SoCal in the last two years I was there. No exaggeration.

I love being on conference calls with colleagues back east in the winter. Inevitably someone will talk about how crappy the weather is where they are and then I will chime in with "Well, it is 80 degrees and sunny out here." at which point someone says "Oh, you can shut up now."

I just got called a loser for rooting for the U.S. soccer team. This person wondered why I would root for a team that had no chance in winning and that "people who know soccer" would root for teams like Italy or Spain, or Brazil.

This man had a Cincinnati Bengals hat on. You're gonna lecture me about rooting for teams that have no chance of winning? Seriously?

Are there any horror film afficianatos here? I saw a clip of a movie one time where a woman falls down a flight of stairs and catches a pipe of running water in the back of her skull. Scene ends with water & blood running out of her mouth.

The only way to exorcise this image from my mind is if I know where it came from. For the Love of God, please somebody help me: where did this come from?

I remember that movie. I think it was called "A Woman Falls Down a Flight of Stairs and Catches a Pipe of Running Water in the Back of her Skull."

I've seen quite a bit of horror movies, but I have never seen such death scene before. It amazes how many different ways horror movies kill people.

Errr whoops! Stay off Topic!

I've always been fond of decapitation or impalement...but then, I guess that's the EMT in me, since they make CPR so much easier.

I just listened to Songs of Faith and Devotion for the first time in a long time. If you couple that with Violator, which is one of my all time favorites, those are two of the darkest back to back albums ever written if you listen to the lyrics.

Jesus...huge crash on the DC Metro...scary drive listening to the radio wondering if my dad was on it.

::having a "whew" moment::

My thoughts go out to anyone in the area who was involved or knew someone who was.

A neighbor was on the train. She walked off the train, but is sore and shaken up.

Spain, the largest Country on the Iberian Peninsula of Europe is a devout football(soccer) nation.

Needless to say their must be some pretty pissed Spainard football fans.

its good because there is less reports to do when someone dies than if someone _almost_ dies.

Oh definitely. Especially since I'm not a paramedic, I can't pronounce. But the run report'll read something like this:

Name: Doe, John.

DOB: 01/24/04

Nature of Call: DOA (Dead on Arrival)

Signs and Symptoms: Obvious Death

History of Present Illness: BLS arrived on scene for a 95 yo male. Pt had obvious signs of lividity and rigor mortis. Transferred care to ALS for pronouncement.

GCS: 3

No vitals assessed, pt DOA.

Or the pt.,upon arrival was diaphroetic, and smurmfing up really well...no effective CPR had been performed...Ergo the field medic ..at the cost of his own license began the RX that eventually led to the reanimation of life...do not think in real world?,check out GEM...enough said.

I don't understand how the water people charge first for the amount of water you use, then assume all water is going down a drain and charge for sewer. If they assume ALL water is going into the sewer then shouldn't they use one bill? And I would think they would understand that people use sprinklers on their lawn and subtract a percentage.

-Edit- Oops, I used the wrong account. I'm Leila Kalomi.

Well, the percentage that most people use that -doesn't- go into the sewers differs for person, so if they just chose one common percentage to be that, they would either be severely under, or over charging different people, so it really makes more sense to have two different bills, that depend on the amount of water going into the sewers and the amount people actually use. Never studied this, but just my theory as to why.

So 100 percent. Okay, brilliant. Maybe that explains what the sewer bill was even higher than the water bill.

Why does that sound evil?
