There is a local radio station that has already started playing holiday songs twenty four seven. I tried listening, but just can't do it until Dec.1.

And, I've reached my Turkey limit.

My random contributions for the day.

A radio station here started playing Christmas music the day after Halloween >.< And you thought you had it rough :D

Ok so seeing as it is politically incorrect to say Merry Christmas why is it politically correct to say Happy Holidays. Holidays is a word that was combined from 2 words Holy and days. So technically if we want to be completely PC we need to say happy December 25th. Does anyone else think that the whole PC thing has gone way too far?

In a word...Yes !!! :D

I second that motion. All in favor of forcing a return to 1950's values?

I just ILLEGALLY downloaded Closer (the trance remix) of Nine Inch Nail's song. It's pretty good. You should all illegally download things.

Life really blows today. I wish there were someway to speed this day along.

Believe me. Miranda, I sympathize with you. The 10 day block of instruction I'm currently in is dry, boring material; has an instructor who had half a class (8 servicemembers per class) fail the block test; doesn't understand the concept of injecting non-subject matter material in the course; is "Mr. Death by Powerpoint"; and is right before the Holiday Leave. I wish that there was some way to speed up the day every damn day.

Yeah, I remember some Army training videos that were just awful. Glad to see they at least know PowerPoint.

I may be an atheist, but you know... I agree with this! Sure you may say Happy Holidays in a work or professional setting, and you try not to say Merry Christmas to someone who doesn't celebrate it, but there is a reason why most businesses shut down on December 25. It wasn't a date that was just picked at random. It had - and continues to have - a cultural significance to it, and pussyfooting around the issue doesn't change that.

Eh, it's just the way of things. It's also why Easter is celebrated as a National holiday and such. Seperation of Church and State is nice and all, but it's impossible to deny that the majority of our Holidays and Laws come from a Christian viewpoint.

This is fine in theory, considering that most of our major crimes (murder, theft, rape, etc.) are basic moral conducts that anyone can observe without cause for cultural offense. But when we're declaring a national Holiday for Christmas, but not for Chanukah Kwanza or other religious and cultural celebrations that occur around the same time. The only way you can be truely equal is to either celebrate them all or none, seeing as how anything else would be political inncorrectness if we're going to view things as black and white as we do now a days.

I mean, come on, there are court houses in the US that have decorations of the Ten Commandments or the Nativity on their grounds. Its not exactly a neutral government we live under.

"Day Man!

Fighter of the Night Man!

Champion Of The Sun!

You're A Master Of Karate and Friendship For Everyone!"

Can't stop singing that song in public!

I kinda wish Christmahaunikwanzaca was made a holiday. Remember those stupid commercials from a couple years ago?

Yeah. It'd probably make more sense then the PC campaign we have now. Like I said, just celebrate it all!

There are three ways to solve this:

1) Let everyone take whatever religious or secular holidays off that affect them. The problem is companies will want proof that you are of that religion or that holiday applies to you. For example, if you want Labor Day or Memorial Day or Veteran's Day off you must be able to prove to HR that you are a member of a union or have a friend or relative killed in a war or be a veteran. The problem with that is companies aren't supposed to consider these things in their hiring decisions but if HR knows about it you can bet they will at least at a subconscious level.

2) Let everyone take everything off regardless of affiliation. The problem is every day is a holiday to someone, so someone could claim every day as a holiday and never work. People will always want a day off if they can get it with pay so our economy would come to a halt if this was implemented.

3) The only way to protect everyone's rights is to increase everyone's vacation allotment and let everyone have whatever days off they want, no questions asked, but they must use it as one of their vacation days (if salaried) or simply not be paid that day (if hourly). This will allow people to celebrate whatever holidays they want, not force anyone to take days off they have no intention of celebrating, and people would not take holidays for frivolous reasons. If the holiday means that much to someone they should be willing to sacrifice a day of pay to celebrate it. Everyone's rights are protected since it is a matter of individual choices and tradeoffs.

Is a Rockette a female rock?

Is a charcoal brickette a female brick?

If tin horns are made of tin, what do they make fog horns out of?

If birds can fly, why can't flies bird?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

Hmmm. The only thing I wonder at night is whether or not I should stop cracking open people's heads in attempt to gain their powers. I've killed ten guitarists already and Stairway is still giving me trouble.
