ShoreLeave 2007!

I met Dominic Keating at a local convention once. Wasn't too impressed. Then again it was during the 1at season and his characher had expanded since.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to attend this year. I may have a commitment that weekend.

Hey kids, it's almost 7 months until the next ShoreLeave, the one at The Big Show. So, since it's officially 2007, let's make a mailstring for all the itty bitty details that we don't want to burden the Boards with.

If anyone would like to be on the mailstring for ShoreLeave 2007, please send me a note at [email protected] and let me know the e-mail address to use and your Boards name, in case it isn't apparent from your e-mail address.

Don't expect weekly updates (yet), but why not get some infrastructure in place now?

I think it would be good to have some normalcy at our booth. Show people that we're not the psychos from Trekkies (the movie)... not all of us, at least. Point being to show the non-psychos that they'll fit in fine.

I think I sorta agree with STSF Lebowski. I found Trekkies interesting, but there was still a part of me that was hoping for another section of the film taking another look at fandom. In reality (my opinion), I still feel that Trekkies was a bit narrow minded with the fan presentation. I don't know, maybe concentrate on a writing/role playing Trek group like this one. Or, what about a group of friends getting together for some sort of yearly Trek viewing party.

On the flip side, some of the fans that do dress up for the conventions or whatever, some of them are really good at it, especially the ones that realize "its all in good fun". They make the cons fun. More power to 'em. I just wish they didnt keep getting on the news.

Think I'm already on the mailing list -- though you can mark me down for booth duty.

Anyone on the list (yes, you are, by the way) will be asked if they would like a stint of table duty. As we get closer, I might even make up a ... {GASP} Schedule!

A9 :-) You can now add me to that schedule. I am going to get to go. The 4-H council has agreed to have someone else handle my part of the Ky State Fair 4-H Dog Program, Dog Judging event. I have to get things together but They will have someone else run it.

HOT DOG I get to go after all. ::crosses fingers for Blu::

I'm not sure if this is a draw for folks or something opposite, but I've just heard that the convention in August got two more guests, Captain Janeway and Wesley Crusher!! Aiiiieee, Kate Mulgrew and Wil Wheaton join a pretty impressive lineup of guest stars and we still have 5 months to go.

Wanna see who else will be there? Go to http://www.creationent.com/cal/stlv.htm

Maybe we can give him a copy of the "USS Wesley Crusher" chat log.

Would you like your own embrodered STSF.NET shirts?

We just got in the Beta shirt order for the convention (yup, we're not only going to sit at a "vendor" table, but we have a banner and will be wearing embrodered shirts!) and they look pretty good - see attached pictures. Since it takes them a little bit of time to get the finished product out (this order took about 3 weeks), you might want to think about getting your orders in now. The minimum shirt order is 4 units, so you should work together to build a group order of at least 4 shirts. These aren't just for folks coming to the convention, so feel free to order yourself a shirt or two: - We are set up with the Queensboro Shirt Company, http://www.queensboro.com/, 800-847-4478 - The customer number (which is where the logo's are stored) is 640084

- Go pick any shirt you want, in black, and then the cost to you will be the cost of the shirt plus:

- $3.75 for the logo Rose (high stitch count) and $5.00 for sleeve text, if you want it.

- Left Rose Logo #: 11059105

- Right Sleeve Logo #: 11060262

Some of the shirts that have been ordered, if anyone is curious, include models 1331, 1400, 1430 and 7048.

Hi all - I am just passing along a heads up I rec'd via email.

A new speaker added to the Vegas Creation Con is Ms. Kristine M. Smith http://www.creationent.com/cal/stlv.htm (right after the Music Video contest). She will be speaking on a book she authored entitled "DeFOREST KELLEY: A HARVEST OF MEMORIES, My Life and Times with a Remarkable Gentleman Actor. "

On a personal note, I first encountered Kristine Smith back in 1993 at a local convention that Mr. Kelley was appearing at. I had the good fortune to meet DeForest Kelley at this con, and during the meeting, Ms. Smith snapped off a few photos of he and I on stage together. She was kind enough to track me down after and offer to send me the photos. If not for this simple and kind act, I would not have the hard copy of that totally cool day.

If you are a DeForest Kelley fan, or are interested in hearing an author (and devoted fan) speak on thier tribute work, then check this out. She is appearing on Saturday, but no definite time as of yet.

Thanks guys!

Kansas >^..^<

Don't forget to let me know if you're attending ShoreLeave in Vegas this summer.

Hey, I like surprises as much as the next Admiral, but if you're planning to attend and haven't let me know, you're not on the mailstring for the event and it will start to heat up as we get closer to August and we start planning our own events.

Right now, I've heard from:

Laarell, Sketti, KBear, BluRox, Kansas Jones, Dumbass, Dac, FredM, Mackey, Lebowski, Precip, Moose, Random Perfect, Jami, Garnoopy, Huff, Webbie, Sumo, Sovak, Laura and one last person who, I'm ashamed to say, I have forgotten because his/her e-mail is not like their chat name (but it contains the word "hearsay").

If your name is not on this list and you want it to, please drop a note to me at [email protected] (and that goes for Mr. Hearsay, so I can better annotate your name to your e-mail)
