No Time for Crying

With a long sigh, Kairi openned the door. She stepped into the empty quarters and looked around. This was going to be her new home for a while, since her quarters were located on Beta. Even though she was in charge of engineering at the moment, she was practically ordered by the rest of the team to take a break.

 

Ever since Alpha showed up in the middle of nowhere, Kairi had been busy coordinating repairs and making sure the ship was ready. She was under a lot of stress. The hydraulic lift to the upper warp nacelle was damaged and needed structural repairs before the ship could go to warp. So until that was finished Kairi was facing some downtime, and she hated it.

 

Kairi walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. She still had a large cut above her right eye from her encounter with the floor. It wasn't serious. It had stopped bleeding a long time ago and Kairi had forgotten about it. Once thing calmed down, she'd go to sickbay to get it properly taken care of.

 

Turning on the sink, she began splashing her face with the lukewarm water. After she cleaned the cut with a damp cloth, Kairi stared into the mirror. The only thing she could focus on right now was her friends. Where had the other two ships gone? Were they alright?

 

The urge to breakdown and begin crying was strong, but Kairi fought it. She needed to keep it together, for the sake of everyone else. With Prell gone it was up to Kairi to set an example to the rest of her team. Right now crying wouldn't help anything
