FredM is the Personnel manager so.... whenever he has the time to get you set up. :P lol.

The assignment process for applications to new sims usually takes a few days from the time you first email the Personnel Manager to the time you are assigned to your new sim. If not mistaken, the process rarely takes over a week.

After you fill out the "questionaire" that is sent to you when Fred knows you have graduated (which itself can take a couple days) Fred then e-mails that list to the GMs of the sims you list as available. Then those GMs e-mail Fred back with available posts (assuming the sims are looking for new people) which, again, can take a couple days. The reason for this is some ship rosters change constantly and Fred doesn't always have the most current information. The GMs also need to have a say in who they allow to join their sims.

I lucked out. My first posting was on the Reaent which is Fred's sim. My second posting was on the QoB and I had a copy of the roster and knew what was available. My 3rd posting was the Agincourt which was a brand new sim so *all* non-GM positions were open, the only question was whether I would get a Marine post or not. (I think the Agincourt GMs decided this themselves but this is not typical.) I "guested" for an alternate reality Reaent plot and received an offer from Fred to rejoin the sim permenantly. I didn't wait long to receive these postings but they were all right place-right time things.

My advice to new cadets is to find the Advanced sims that meet your desired schedule and ask the GMs for a copy of the current roster. Some will provide these, some won't. But if you know ahead of time what is available and what isn't you take a lot of the guesswork out of the formula.

Oh okay. Cause I emailed my application in last Thursday and it just seemed so long I had to ask.

Also remember that this weekend was a long holiday weekend in the US.

:: Obi-Wan voice :: "Patience Luke... erm, Mich"

:P

I know, it's not impatience, it's just eagerness. All of use here, I'm sure, have experienced that at LEAST once. I know I did. :D And there's no harm in asking questions.

Good luck wherever you end up!

Ha! My first advanced sim, and mind you this was on SFOL (:D ) was the Arcadia. Neva Brahms gradiated me, and I applied for her ship, and got it within a couple of days, as a science officer. Then Brig Resident, then Security, then Deputy CSEC, then TAC, then burned out for a few years, then back on the Arc, again as a science officer, then helm, then off in SOCOM for 18 months (or thereabouts. I did poke my head back in a few times), then TAC, and now Chief of Security. Wow. It's been almost eleven years since I started simming.

I don't know if it's been said yet, but I also suggest talking to the Host team of the ship you're interested in. :P
