This topic was just a lil brainfart of mine. Recently the chatrooms went down JUST before an excalibur sim. Now because we didn't have an organised backup the sim couldn't happen. We've been recently discussing what our backup would likely be so I thought I'd take a quick poll of the forum just to find out what's the most happenin' chat-stuff around on STSF and what'd be the most likely backup for most of the advanced sims.

Yes I used Happenin', I belong in the fifties.

Anyway, this isn't a official poll to find out what our backup will actually be, just a random query of mine. For the love of the almight ape, do not go posting your details here!

Oh and if you use something alternative, like ICQ, say so! But if you just use one that encompasses them all like Trillian, ya might as well click all three as yes's really.

Cheers! ;)

::clicks "yes" to all three::

That's me. I use Trillian so I've got IDs on each of them, but I really prefer AIM over MSN. The MSN connection is sorta buggy for me and drops a lot more easily.

While I love the concept behind Trillian, I've found it to be somewhat lacking in both functionality and dependency. So, I use whichever program I need depending on who I'm talking to, which means a lot of wasted MB on the hard drive and stolen RAM. :: shrugs :: Part of the modern age, though.

I use Trillian, too so I clicked 'yes' for all three. There are a few things that Trillian can't do but it's good enough for the basics so for me there's no need to have three or four different programs.

I use gaim, a multiplatform free software chat client that supports a good number of different chat protocols, but, the only one I use now is AIM. I also have an ICQ number, but I haven't known anyone else who used ICQ only for about 5 years.

I think ICQ is pretty much dead now. I still have one, but I don't think I've used it in over four years. On topic, I also have all three of the choices mentioned. I use MSN and AIM often, but YIM very rarely.

Morse code is an alphabet. You still have to transmit it somehow :-)

That would've been a great pic for the caption contest.

I use both msn and AIM. Yahoo leaves me cold for some reason.

During my on-line game clanning stint, I employed MSN a lot. With STSF, AIM is my main chat; I just keep poking the MSN to make sure the access doesn't close.

AIM, with MSN as a backup.

I use AIM and MSN the most, but I do have all three of the main stream messengers.
