Letter to a Friend

Kairi entered her quarters from a long workout at the gym. She got a bottle of water from the replicator and sat down at her desk. "Hmm I should write Sun-Li," she said to herself as she activated her console. After thinking for a moment, she began writing.

Dear Sun-Li,

Things are a little interesting here on Agincourt. We're orbiting some rock in the Psi Velorum system. Supposedly some stupid lizards refused to pay tribute to the Empire. Can you imagine the nerve? The marines are probably teaching them all a lesson even as I write this letter. I bet the resistance won't last long.

Anyways, Javin and I are still together. He's getting into trouble like usual. He's been picking fights with Robair and Kroells, our Chiefs of Security and Science. He almost got the booth the other day, but Captain DeChevel stepped in and saved his neck. It woud have put a dampener on our evening. I'll have to remember to personally thank the Captain someday.

I met someone new the other day. She's an engineer like me. Her name is Dielle Toren, but we call her Dee. Guess what? She's a Risan. We've been spending some time together, and I like her a lot. Though Javin doesn't seem to care for her much. I'll have to make him mind. Dee is very talented, and not just in engineering. We have a lot in common, and I hope to get to know her more. I think you'd like her. If we ever come to Earth soon, I'll introduce you to her.

Anyways, I think that's about all I have to say right now. I bet you've got stuff you need to do. I sure miss your cooking though. Replicated food just doesn't appeal to me anymore, and you make the best honey chicken. Oh how's the garden doing? I bet everything is pretty at this time of year.

Hopefully I'll see you soon.

Love,

Kairi

She relaxed a minute at her desk as she finished her water. After sending the letter she closed her console and got up from her seat.

Walking into the bathroom, Kairi turned on the shower, and began stripping. She tossed her clothes to the side and stepped in. The water was nice and warm as it fell onto her skin.

It had been a long day, and it wasn't quite over yet. She had about an hour to relax before she needed to meet Javin for dinner. For once there wasn't going to be any business. It was her one rule for tonight, no work.

After a few minutes, Kairi shut the water off and stepped out of the shower. She dried off and wrapped the towl around her. Then she went to her closet to pick out a dress, the worse part of getting ready. She didn't know what to pick. Finally she picked out a little firey red dress, along with shoes and jewelry. Once she was changed she did her last minute preps, hair, makeup, etc.

Finally she was ready, with minutes to spare. Kairi left her quarters and headed down the corridor. She got a few turned heads as she walked by, making her smile. Kairi was almost to Prell's room. "He better follow the rules tonight," she muttered to herself. Last thing anyone would want to do was make her mad, specially tonight.
