Personal History:

 

Kairi's mother, Rikku, became a prisoner of war during the war between the Terran Empire and Romulan Star Empire. During that time, she became a slave and a favorite pet of the Romulan Warden in charge of the prison. It wasn't long after the conception of Kairi, that a surprising team of mercenaries lead by Captain Charles Kassem, raided the prison freeing the slaves. The warden was killed during the prison break.

 

Having fealt abandoned by the Terran Starfleet, Rikku allied herself with Charles and soon fell in love with him. Not soon after, Kairi was born abord Kassem's ship, the Blood Money. Fearing what people might say or do if people found out that Kairi was Romulan, Rikku devised an elaborate story of how she had fallen in love with a Vulcan prisoner.

 

As Kairi grew up, she discovered her true roots. Discouraged by her mother to dig deeper into her Romulan heritage, caused a rift between Kairi and Rikku. Kairi's child curiosity grew stronger though, and she began to secretly learn of her roots. Kairi began to study engineering to mask her true studies. Eventually she became a wiz in engineering, far surpassing those that worked onboard the Blood Money.

 

When she was old enough, Kairi began expressing interests in joining Starfleet. This made Rikku angry, as she still did not forgive Starfleet for being abandoned. Night after night arguments and fights broke out between mother and daughter to the point that Kairi had enough. Shortly after a cargo drop-off the Blood Money mysteriously was destroyed with all hands lost. Ironically though Kairi was the lone survivor, escaping in the only working escape pod. The destruction of the Blood Money was officially documented as technical failure to the warp core.

 

Alone and much wealthier from liberating the credits from the BM before it's destruction, Kairi sought out on her own. She eventually joined the Starfleet Academy, pursuing a career in engineering. She soon graduated and began her assignment onboard the ISS Agincourt, where she is still currently stationed at the rank of Lieutenant. Though she pledges loyalty to Starfleet and the Agincourt, Kairi longs for the day she can reunite with the Romulan people and resurrect the Star Empire from the ashes.

 

To this day Kairi has still managed to keep her Romulan heritage a secret. Those that have discovered the truth have been bribed by any means or have been found dead in freak mechanical accidents.
