Welcome aboard... hope to see you around in an academy.

Strictly speaking, while STSF is a real-time chat sim, is not an IRC sim. IRC is a specific standard Internet protocol used for real-time chat; our chat is based on a proprietary protocol (SigmaChat).

Thanks for the pointers...I read all the posts Sendai gave me...Still a lil nervous (If that's not weird enough :P) about the first session, I'm sooo new to this.

Naah, no reason to be nervous! Come to an Academy, ask for an assistant post and just focus on what you and your Dept chief are doing. Don't worry about all that other text flying by. It's the best way to step into the simming mindset. Sooner than you think, you'll be following everything typed to a room and have time to react to everyone and perfect your gameplay. Remember that the reason for the Academy system is to let new players learn at their own pace. Some people graduate in a few weeks and some take a few months (no, don't post your "I graduated in only one sim" brags here).

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters. After all, that's why the players who have graduated come back to the Academy (or is it to watch Cadets get killed off?)

You can also collect stuff. For example, I've got this neat 'Get Out Of One NDak Induced Peril' Card.
