Star Trek Fanfic/FFRP

Hey everyone,

 

I'm new here, and this place is great, but to extend my Trek, I'm curious: Are there other forum based and chat based sites too? How about places where you can submit Trek fanfics? Is it allowed here? If so, I'd love to write a few and contribute.

Hello and Welcome Shirai!

 

STSF combines the best of all worlds, IMO. It's a chat based RPG with both Academies open to all and then the advanced games for graduated players. In addition to that, once you graduate and get posted to an advanced game, you (if you choose to) are able to write fan fiction (from your characters perspective) in between the weekly chat sessions, basing the writing usually on what is happening within the story line, and then posting under your ships area on the boards. And there are some good writers here on these boards. In addition, those stories are also sent out on the game email string. Some cadets have taken to writing about thier adventures while still in the Acad, and posting the stories under the Academy (possibly Community as well) area as well.

 

I don't know of any other chat based sites off the top of my head. I know when I was searching for a good RPG site I came across some with a internet search. Then again, STSF *IS* the cream of the crop so why search any further. Now as for pure straight fan fiction? I dont recall seeing any here on STSF, other then us writing through our characters. Basically, STSF gives me all the fan fiction fix that I need. :-)

While we do not encourage the recruiting for outside sims in STSF, check out the message boards at Startrek.com for more RPG sites other than STSF.. though most of them are small independant sims...

About fan-fics... I'm not really sure.. trying Googling for it..we're mainly focused on RPG chat rooms and logs, using our own made characters, rarely interacting with the canon Trek characters and ships

I'd like to echo what Kansas said about fanfic. Writing (whether by yourself or with others) is one of the most enjoyable parts of STSF. We have a lot of extremely talented writers here. You have many opportunities to develop a character here, plus you have the added benefit of knowing that people are reading what you write. Check out some of the other forums to browse through the logs. The "log competition" might be a fun place to start.

Welcome, Shirai. As for the fanfics, Fanfiction.net is a multigenre archive of fanfiction. I have a number of stories posted there as well, although most of them are anime-related, I do have one ST:TOS Movies era story posted there, and am working on a second. My Fanfiction.net page
