It's a maze Jim, but not as we know it

LONDON (Reuters) - A fan of the cult TV show "Star Trek" has boldly gone where no man has gone before and created a world-record beating 32-acre maze dedicated to the programme on his English farm.

Tom Pearcy used satellite technology to help him design the huge maze at his farm near York in northern England to celebrate 40 years since the airing of the first episode of the show, which starred William Shatner as Captain James Kirk.

His design, which includes images of character Mr Spock and the spaceship the USS Enterprise, needed 1.5 million maize plants, making it the largest of its kind in the world.

"I am a big fan of Star Trek, and the 40th anniversary gave me the inspiration to use some instantly recognisable images in the design," Pearcy said.

It is the fifth year Pearcy has planted a "York Maze" on his farm, with previous designs including a Viking Longship and London's Big Ben.

Is that the Enterprise-A attacking the Borg?

No, it looks more like the TOS series Enterprise attacking a Borg Cube.

I once went through a corn maze shaped like the Titanic. A local company does it every fall near my town.
