I've been offline because I had to compleatly restore my laptop and when I finally found this site again some one had messed with my signature. Anywho thought some one should know ::shrugs::

Having seen said signature while I was perusing the boards, I would assume that portions of your signature were removed because they violated the "no extra-STSF simulation recruiting/advertising" code that we have going here. Additionally, with the boards' upgrade, we should not be seeing any more hackers for awhile. We hope so, at least! :D

Hope this helps.

Yes, perhaps one of the admins removed the advert image in your sig. Please note that recruitment and advertising for sims outside STSF are prohibited. Thanks :D

Evidently my pm's are not working either. Please everyone please understand, when I left here before computer problems all that was in my signature was my name and rank thing. When I found the board again there was some other sim group advertisement in my signature. I learned my first day of simming that you do not rucruit for other groups while in the group you are simming with. It would have been unduly rude for me or anyone else to do so. Please understand that I did NOT put that in my signature, that's why I wrote this post concerned that some one had messed with the boards again. Also when I came back Sarvek had left me a pm about this and I wrote her back telling here basically the same thing but evidently the message did not get to her.

Sorry for not makeing myself clear in the first post,

Ps well pm's are working because I just got one. ::clueless::

And the plot continues... O_o And speaking of sigs, Sarvek I can't read yours. Consider changing colours, at least until the old black boards are in place. Gracias. :D

The only way anyone can change a signature is by being a global moderator. The new boards are highly secure as they are the newest version of Invision boards. If someone "hacked" into your account...and why anyone would want to do that, is beyond me, tt would be because "they" have your password. I'd suggest changing that if you feel your account is no longer secure.

Thanks.

Something else that might have happened, your original signature had an image of a TOS communicator, correct? If you linked to that image from another site and they updated the pic to incluse the banner for the other sim then, naturally you're signature would have the new picture.

Ahhhhh kewl....yes you are correct....thank you so much.....I bet that's exactly it ::sigh of relief:: I'll have to figure a different way to put that in. ::goes to check comunicator pic on other boards::

Thanks!!!!

P.S.

Yep I found the url in my documents and went there to check and they had added the advertisement to the page with the comunicator on it.

Yep, he's right. Thank Jeebus I've got the newest Norton.

P.S

Probably been mentioned but i missed the first wave of this happening, simple temp cure is just to click stop whenever you hit a page.

Or stop using IE as much as possible. I use Opera for here and a number of other sites, and I only got hit the first time, but it kept asking my did I want to save or open the file. Which then allowed my to run Norton CE and wipe out the varmit.

Since Aug 8, we've also been hit by advertising spam and it may be related.

God those ads on the board are annoying. Is someone personally doing that or is it a bot? At first I was thinking the former but the persistance of it makes the latter far more likely.

It looks a lot like a bot that's been registering large numbers of new board IDs. At first, I thought that someone might have broken our rather weak captcha on the registration page, but, since we were hacked, it's more likely that the hack-bot is just adding new board ID's as it pleases and bypassing the registration system entirely.

Worst part is, something like that is hell to stop.
