In order to reserve your name, you need to have it registered on the boards. Any board name you have, will require your password.

Not too sure i understand completely. I understand that it'll take your board name, and will need your password. what i'm not too sure of is how i could use names other than my Message Board name, but can't use them now. Thanks for the info though. It helped a lot. :D

From what I can see, and I'll let Atragon reply to this with the better response, the chatinterface is only taking registered names.

Took a look, when i went to the old URL stsf.net/chatroom.php i got the usual chatroom the way it usually looks, like Marius said, it only allowed me to login with my board name Sam_SemaJ and my password. When i clicked the 'live chat' link that is currently at the top of our forum, it took me straight in to the chatroom with my board name.

Same thing happened to me. :D It seem if you want to use your regular name you have to register the name.

It took me awhile to figure it out too, I guess it does help with security though. No one can get in under your name now...

considering some of the recent issues with disrupters in the rooms... ::applauds::

while it may cause some issues in reducing curious people, saves headaches the other way.

This is true, but we are also willing to trust our visitors. Once Webbie is able to find the switch to allow "Guest" logins (those without passwords), the GM Council will ask that he turn this feature back on. If we get to a point where we are seeing too many untrackable disruptors in our chat rooms, we can always disable Guests. For now, we are hoping to have that feature available again, soon.

Yes I agree with you. Once while I was about half an hour early for the academy(this happened a while ago), someone came in impersonating as STSF Muon. He/she had only switched the u and o around and me and a few people that were there still belived he/she was Muon. He started insulting everyone that was there with me(threw in a couple of nasty words too). :D
