"Letters Home"

Lt. Laarell Teykier

July 1, 23--

Laarell entered her quarters, dropping a stack of padds on her desk. Padds, padds, padds, and more padds. Pile after pile of crew quarters' assignments, holodeck time allotments, and the duty rotations for the next few weeks.

She pulled out the ergonomic yet undeniably uncomfortable chair at the desk. The LCARS display blinked a few times as she reviewed the monitor, a newly received and processed communique being announced.

The Orion pulled out a piece of jerky as she tapped the communications' symbol on the screen. Chewing the dried meat thoughtfully, she waited for the text file to load. A smile crossed her face as she saw its sender: her youngest sister, Darah. Strange, having all communications going through her console, but not even really taking note of their contents.

Dear Laarell,

It's soooo cool to hear from you when you're off on some cool planet, and I'm stuck here on a boring planet filled with boring diplomats and smelly Klingons. I don't think they ever shower. I still wish all your stuff isn't all classified and things like that. I'm sure you've gone to places that are really scary and cool. But anyways...

Let me think. Oh yeah, Paarash is back on Qo'NoS for now. He's working as Daddy's aide for now. But gee, he gets more privileges than the other aides. Privileges of being the ambassador's son. Teeheehee.

Our nephew still hasn't been born yet! He's like ... three weeks overdue. Navaar's just getting crankier and crankier. I hope he's born reallly soon.

Anyway, the rest of the stuff going on is just politics and that kind of thing. I'm sure you can find it on the news stations, so I won't go into it in this letter. Sooo, I'll talk to you later.

With love from your favorite (and only) littlest sister,

Darah

Sitting back from reading, she sighed. So nice to have the family at home to hear from once in a while. Someone at home who'd keep you informed of the local happenings while you went barreling across the galaxy in pursuit of arachnid freaks of nature and vampiric warriors.

Ah well. Off-duty work responding to complaints about in-shift duty rotations could wait. At least until she'd responded back to her darling little sister...
