"I got got got no time...i got got....."

Arcadia *probably* takes place somewhere in the 2380's. The fact that the Sovereign class is still considered a top-of-the-line ship gives that away.

I'm reluctant to set an actual year, or to say 1 sim year = 1 real year.

As the new XO, I was keeping track of time in the last episode, which took 7 weeks of real time, and less than a week of sim time. The last 3 real weeks took place over about a sim-day.

In Starfleet, one would not expect to promote officers after a few days of service, or to have a 20 year old Lt. Cmdr. But, in a sim, after a certain number of weeks, characters may have to be promoted. By necessity, simming has to occur in something of a double-time with respect to real-time. That also means that characters may have to be "aged" faster than sim-time would have ordinarily allowed.

Another danger is that the sim has run for a long time, and is expected to continue running. If we attach sim time to real time, then, eventually, Arcadia could meet Agincourt!

The stardate thing (YYMM.DD) is useful because it maps to real time, but there is no conversion back to sim time.

I also like following the convention of not using the Earth-centric Gregorian calendar.

Simming makes you old.
