Col. C.E. Harper

Freighter/Scientist Plot

Recap 05.31.06

The Agincourt crew are recovering from the virus. In Sickbay, a much healthier Levy makes a point of thanking Delphi for his work on the vaccine, while Doctors Contagion and Reen get acquainted.

Life is slowly returning to normal, despite the fact that the Agincourt is rushing to answer a distress signal from a freighter. Things are so slow aboard, in fact, that two department heads receive a rude awakening -- Robair is startled out of a doze in his office by JoNs's delievery of status reports, and Kroells has a double shock as Condacin knocks on his door just as Davies contacts him over the comm.

Some officers just can't relax, however; Kassem, who should still be on medical leave, makes her way down to engineering like a good workaholic. Fortunately for her, Prell is up on the bridge.

Down in the NNC, the Marines are enjoying the luxury of advance notice. Sisson is returned to health and duty. Rieve, Day and Harper trade some banter as they prepare for a possible boarding of the freighter.

As the Agincourt draws nearer to the freighter, people settle down to business. JoNs comes up to man the tactical station; together, she and Prell scan the ship. It appears the Agincourt is too late; there are no life-signs on the freighter, its cargo is missing, and the cockpit is blasted away.

Davies orders an Away Team, determined to discover what happened. Prell calls down to sickbay for a pair of doctors, and gets Reen and Contagion, while Harper sends along Rieve and Sisson to guard the team against any unknown hazards that may be lurking.

As the other Marines suit up, Day asks Harper to step aside for a conversation about her performance on Travae, after which she hurries off to join the Away Team.

Elsewhere, Merril and Kassem are working on a project together, after being evicted from Main Engineering by Prell, who was not best pleased to discover Kassem at work.

Other officers are learning a few lessons as well; Robair assigns JoNs to teach Spitfire the ins and outs of Agincourt's unique tactical systems. It bodes fair to be a lesson for both junior officers.

The Away Team materializes on the freighter, in cold, empty darkness, and fans out to search...

Recap 06.07.06

Deep within the recesses of his Ready Room, Davies uses Harper as an outlet for voicing his fears about inadequacy. Out on the bridge, a newly-mentored Spitfire takes over Tactical for the first time while Kroells manages operations from his perch in the captain's chair.

In the holodeck, JoNs and Robair go through Marine hand-to-hand combat training, and in the lab, Kassem has some words with a Condacin bent on tidying her chief's office.

The neat-bug is also exhibited in the NNC, where Borel has physical training planned of a special kind -- Merril and the rest of the Marines in need of PT are signed up for a shift of making everything sparkle.

Meanwhile, on the freighter, Sisson locates their first body, apparently killed by vacuum exposure. It isn't long before Contagion discovers another, down in the cargo hold, and this one has burns, as though from a super-heated projectile. Prell and Rieve discuss the odd signs of wear Prell has spotted all over the ship, from the decay of a pipe to the weakening of a chair's bolts.

Investigating the cargo hold, Day experiences communications interference, and locates a small subspace tear. Contagion's tricorder goes crazy, trying to sort out odd genetic readings. The team joins up again, but Prell decides the equipment troubles aren't worth any clues that may be left, and requests transport back to Agincourt.

They are just in time; Davies has received urgent orders for Agincourt to abandon the freighter and investigate the possible disappearance of Dr. K'torem Senok, a leading subspace physicist. The Away Team materializes on the bridge just as the captain calls for their return.

Recap 06.14.06

As the Agincourt nears Vorana 6, Davies takes reports from the Away Team and waits for information about the situation on the planet. Prell is working on deciphering the information from the freighter, while JoNs and Kroells keep a sharp eye on the sensors.

The Marines take the oppotunity to get cleaned up and repair some of their gear before having to deploy again; Day, Rieve, and Merril are all in the NNC checking things over.

One Marine is working on something else; Harper accompanies Levy to Sickbay, quizzing her on what information the Away Team discovered. Unfortunately, neither of the doctors on the team had yet filed reports with their chief.

Condacin and Kassem are still in the science lab, and still having a few words. It seems Condacin harbors some suspicions about Kassem's heritage and loyalties, to say nothing of her romantic tastes.

The security officers are enjoying a brief period of quiet before the storm. Robair reviews reports from JoNs and Spitfire patrols the decks. Their rest is short-lived, however, as Davies soon orders them to Transporter Room 2 for Away Team duty.

Upon arrival at Vorana 6, it becomes clear that something out of the ordinary has occurred; the communications buoy that should be in orbit is so much scrap metal, and the defense field around the science complex is down, although the structure appears undamaged. The debris from the buoy in beamed into Cargo Bay 3, and Prell and Condacin head down to have a look at it.

The captain orders an investigation team down to the planet; in addition to the two security officers, Kroells joins the team, and Harper calls for a pair of Marines to provide protection, since security will have other matters on their minds.

Recap 06.21.06

After a interesting conversation discussing feline olfactory senses with JoNs, Davies heads off to wander the decks and have a friendly chat with Levy, leaving the Bridge in JoNs' competant claws. Later on, Day wanders up to check on matters.

Down on Vorana VI, an away team begins their investigation of Dr. Senok's research facility. The team, consisting of Harper, Kroells, Merril, Rieve, and Holt,* finds the laboratory in disarray: prototype holographic equipment still activated; a cup of coffee recently knocked over. After nosing around their new surroundings for a few minutes, a lifesign is picked up, sending Merril, Rieve, and Holt through an access conduit after the fleeing entity. A few minutes later, Agincourt's sensors pick up a vessel rapidly leaving the planet's surface.

Heading to the cargo bay from Engineering, Prell assists Condacin and a recently treated Kassem, who determine from the fragments that the same irregular aging occurs in both their buoy wreckage and the freighter.

*Others who should be on the Away Team when attending: Robair, Spitfire

Recap 06.28.06

Davies breaks off a tender moment with Levy before joining JoNs and Pilot on the Bridge, who are monitoring scans of the mysterious alien vessel. With the ship not responding to their hails or warning shots, Agincourt latches on a tractor beam, immediately being repelled. Unfortunately, the vessel disappears into a subspace anomaly before being lost on sensors completely.

Though having little success tracking their lifesign, the away team continues their investigation of the facility. Kroells and Spitfire work with the consoles, attempting to retrieve the corrupted data. While Merril tracks the same vessel Agincourt does from the surface, Day coordinates from the ship. Elsewhere, Harper and Rieve examine a hangar within the facility to determine if the invaders could have entered from that point. Their tinkering reveals that the self-destruct had been initiated and silenced, and the Agincourt is forced to initiate an emergency beamout, getting the team out before the base destroys itself.

Prell and Kassem man Engineering and seek options to use against the alien ship, while Condacin finishes moving the buoy wreckage in Cargo Bay Three.
