Familiar Ground

She sat with anticipation by the window, watching the stars streak by. Just a few more moments and they would drop from warp back into the Avalon system. The familiar drop of energy and motion ran through the ship and the stars she was viewing shrank back from elongated spectrums to radiant points of light. She squinted a second as the Avalon star came around into view.

 

As the viewport filter darkened she again looked carefully around into the blackness of space. Growing steadily ahead she could see Camelot. It felt good. She may have only passed through it briefly before coming onboard Excalibur but it was to be her home now. She had always had a station or starbase as home. Even at the Academy she found herself steeling away to Earth Spacedock and actually taking up residence there during her last semester.

 

Now this station would be home. Would it bring the same blessings and trials Aegis had for her parents? Would the colony set up here grow as her home had? She was eager to find out.

 

As Kallah set foot once again on the station's deck she breathed a bit easier. Now she could get back to what had sent her to this distant point in the galaxy. Entering the turbolift, "Cargo bay 3."
