Excerpts from the SF General Newsfeed:

Where are they now?

The USS Manticore, NCC-5852, has been removed from active duty. After eight years of constant missions of deep space rescue and retrieval, the Nebula class vessel has been taken from the active roster. Further details can be found at document 325934072/1623

Klingon-Federation Anniversary

This month marks the 50th year of the peaceful alliance between the Federation and the Klingon High Command. Appropriate celebrations are being planned throughout the month. Watch this newsfeed for more information in the future. Further details can be found at document 371554071/1618

Groundbreaking begins for the Roddenberry Center

Construction has begun on the Roddenberry Center for Applied Thematics at the main campus of Starfleet Academy. This will usher in a new focus and major study area for cadets in their final two years of study and has been a source of debate for almost a year at SFHQ. Further details can be found at document 987253882/1606. Background articles on this issue are compiled in document 986731266/1606.

Excerpt from the SF Command-level Newsfeed:

Atragon-9 returned to Command status

Admiral Atragon-9, former commander of the USS Stargazer and USS Manticore, has emerged from an 8-month review of his command conduct and the Federation Council has returned command status to him. He does not currently have a new assignment and is spending a LOA with his wife, Commander Jami Farrington, on Earth. Further details have been secured and are not publicly available.

USS Exeter listed as missing

The USS Exeter, a Cheyenne-class science vessel, has gone three week past its routine check-in mark. They were examining the 9th planet in the Tanemo star system when they made their last report. The fleet will be sending a ship to investigate. Further details can be found at document 399236270/0811

NCC-5852 to be eliminated

The USS Manticore, NCC-5852, has been rated as unspaceworthy and will be destroyed. The shipyard crew at SB1 have completed placing the shaped charges and the elimination will proceed within the week. There is no word on why this Rescue and Retrieval vessel is not simply being broken down into components and reused. Further details can be found at document 498734118/0818

Secureflash to Admiralty-level clearance:

USS Exeter crew member does not survive emergency surgery

The crew member, Lt. Harris Snelling, from the USS Exeter lifepod that was found on the outskirts of the Tanemo system has died. Lt. Snelling's lifepod was found just as its systems were failing and Mr. Snelling was suffering massive internal injuries from blunt trauma and external wounds that conform to those made by the Klingon "painstick." He was never conscious to provide any explanations for this situation and the attempts to stabilize his condition at Starfleet Medical were unsuccessful. An autopsy and detailed brainscan has been ordered. Ships near the Tanemo system are on high alert, but have been told to not approach and not engage.
