::having dismissed Dr Herel....and that infernal cat of hers, Blu turns to Zera::

::Lt Zera, meanwhile,  stands awaiting the yelling that she knows must be ready to start::

"Dr.".:: Blu starts::..."would you mind telling me, why these" ::holding up the cage of tribbles:: "Were running around loose on the ship?" ::

Lt Zera says, "To be completely honest, Sir, I have no idea. I am taking care of Gumby for Lt Mitchell and he is an escape artist."

"Shouldnt they have been in your quarters?" ask's Blu.

"Yes, Sir.  They were when I left for the isolation deck," replies Lt Zera.

Blu scratches behind an ear, " And as for Lt Mitchell, you have been informed that he has been sent off to training courses, havent you?"

Lt Zera blinks quickly, trying to keep her composure:: "Yes, Sir.  He informed me."

Blu turns back towards Zera, "Lt., I've been apprised of your situation, and I know that this may be a bad time to be separated from him, but when the offer came in, he was really interested.  It could be a big step for him, one that could help you both in your futures. That is why I ok'd the transfer papers."

"I understand, Sir.  We have an understanding and his career comes first," Zera replied.

::Blu raises an eyewhisker at Zera's statement:: "An understanding?? Am I to understand that he doesn't plan to take an active part, or responsibility in what is also ...his?"

Lt Zera clasps her hands behind her back, "We really didn't get to talk about it much before he left.  I barely was able to tell him I was pregnant. Eric..."

"I see,"  the captain turns and begins to pace.  "Continue Lt..."

Zera continued, " He's always been driven by his career.  I don't see anything changing that in the near future."

Blu flattens her ears back a bit as she continues, " Lack of responsibilty has always been one of my pet peeves....If I had known that he hadn't committed to share in his part of this...rather large responsibility, I may have had second thoughts about sending him off to training school.  But..again, this brings up back to the present."

Zera realizes she just gave the wrong impression of Eric to the Captain.

"Lt, you and your child,...you will have to arrange for proper care you know."

Zera nods, "Lt Torve is helping me in that area."

Cpt BluRox points to the tribbles, " You won't be able to just go off and leave the baby alone, and you know how starships work,  there are emergencies, we are at war, there are," pauses and quirks a brow at Zera.  " Lt Torve..that is your brother, is it not?"

Zera stands a little straighter, " Yes Sir."

Blu continues, " He also has a child here on the ship, does he not? "

Zera smiles, "His son, Alex."

Blu subconsciouly rubs the sore shoulder, but continues, "You may want to spend some time getting tips on care from him then, and....also, practice on these," tapping on top of the tribble cage.

Zera blushes, " I swear, I've never had a problem before with the tribbles."

"OH!?"  Blu stands stroking her whiskers, "Seems to me...that from a little tribble, you had a minor explosion of them. There seem to be quite a bit more of them on board now."

"Sir, Ankh only had 19 tribblets." replied Zera.

"19,"  Blu begins  to paces around again.

"I don't know anything about how we have 84 on board," Zera responds.

"Yes..that little slip, and 19..." said Blu, doing a double take, "84?"

"Permission to speak freely, Sir?" Zera quickly tries to change the subject.

"Granted...." waves Blu with a flip of her paw.

Lt Zera looks at Blu, " I am a responsible person.  Accidents happen as we aren't perfect.  I'd like to know if you have a problem with my preformance as an officer on this ship."

Captain BluRox grins, " Good...some spunk," as she moves around behind her desk and sits down. "No doctor, not at all, in fact, I also would like to thank you on another matter.

Zera looks a bit confused, " Sir?"

Blu tapped a claw on the desk, testing her arm a bit, "During my convalesance, I watched the security tapes of my, ....run in with my old, ....well, we'll leave that as it is, needless to say, I was in a bit of shock over the matter, and I saw how you took a kick at him,...even in your condition.  I appreciate the effort."

"Thank you, Sir,"  replyed Zera, surprised at her change of attitude.

The captain continued, "Now, you've all had a long run with fighting this medical problem, get your tribbles, and go get some rest, But, Keep them in your room.  Get a pet sitter to look in on them or something."

Zera walked over and picked up the cage with the tribbles, "Yes, Sir.  Oh and Captain, about Lt Mitchell, he will be taking part in his child's life. It's just our relationship is a bit complicated right now.  I didn't mean to give the wrong impression of him to you."

Blu, curious herself about letting Zera off so easily, but decides it's

good to keep them off guard, grinned to herself, "Very well Lt Zera, I'll keep that in mind then. You are dismissed."

Zera smiles and exits with her tribble trio.

Meanwhile, Blu wishes she had asked Zera if she had her med kit with her, as

her shoulder was bothering her a bit still.  Decides probally for the best not to say anything, and went to the replicator to get an icepack for it::
