Carst is human. Thoros is Andorian. I think he's one of the only Andorians. I can recall one, but I'm not sure if she's around anymore.

Orions and Cardassians aren't exactly known for being in Starfleet...

Pfft...In the brig.

Ah, but even if she's in the bowels of the ship, Naara's still on the Arc.

Troyian

Now that's amusing, as we actually have an Elasian...or two floating around.

Let's see....

I have a Romulan (or three), an Elasian, Bajoran, two Dameons, an Arzaban, a Risan, a human, and some others I'll not name as to not out myself.

For years my primary character(s) has/have been the Joy class androids, based on the I Mudd eipisode, but with asimov processor and emotion chip added. On the surface, they are designed to be human, but there are the minor details of lacking free will and being required to obey their programming. Much fun in the TNG environment she was designed for, but a pain in the rear in an environment where the Joy programming don't fit well with the sim culture. Currently, Joy Twelve is active on Republic.

Tia is a mess. She is a half breed Betazed-Deltan with such a sensitive empathic ability that they had to send her off to Vulcan to prevent emotional overload and so she could learn discipline. So, we have a highly emotional empathic character who thinks she has to be logical all the time. She is also coming from three old style Roddenberry cultures, but is playing on the Excalibur, which has a distinct post-Roddenberry militaristic theme. A very confused character. Still finding herself.

Then there is Tay, who recently started on the Agincourt, though I have played other nightflyers in other game groups. Her race is of my own creation. Rather than starting human and exaggerating a few traits, I started with wings, sonar and a fierce intelligence, and tried to derive a culture and set of emotions appropriate to a treetop dwelling hunter species that never developed tool use, agriculture or fire. A little bat here, a lot of lion there, with a dash of dolphin, and a language not based on symbols or words. Very nuts. Very fun.

I started out playing humans playing in numerous off line games. I can agree that starting human is good for learning the game. I just enjoy going for the alien, trying to play characters who make decisions using non-standard values and perspectives that are still real and practical enough to help bring about a positive plot resolution in the game. Still, not every exotic non-human set of values is going to fit in every game. One has to match the values of the character to the ship.

I went with a Klingon/Romulan mix. Everyone IRL says I am mean, straight forward and aggressive, why do with a Vulcan??

In order...

Human, Ferengi, Human, Human, Betazed, Human, Human&Ferengi (the same two characters as NPCs on the Excal), and Human.

I'm thinking half-Bajoran, half-human. Because Bajorans are awesome. ( ::wants to be Kira Nerys when she grows up:: )

Once I graduate, I'll have T'Lara, a Vulcan/Klingon hybrid as helmsman. I'm still figuring out how to play her smoothly. So confusing. Vulcans rejected her in their own way, Klingons rejected her, so the only home she really felt like she could be tolerable is Star Fleet.

I find the Star Trek realm so interesting. So many actors/SIMmers play half races, its so weird there are still prejudices in this world. My last character was mostly human, but one quarter Romulan. See what I mean?

Mousians? ::reminds self not to stalk the target prey:: ;-)

Caitians! w00t! My favorite type of character to play. The Kzinti I haven't explored yet. Although from what I've read and seen on the Trek Animated Series, the Tiger-like Kzinti are more warlike then the Caits.

Caitians Rule! :: flicks tail playfully JoNs way ::

Besides being Kitty #2 on the Excalibur, I play a Romulan on Talon (of course). I've also had one Bajoran and one Vulcan character on sims I'm no longer on. Also, I've had human characters for guest roles and npcs. I generally find that npc characters are better human, since I don't have to really think about cultural/biological/etc. differences for the occasional line here and there.
