Schawnsee

A Tiskett, A Taskett, A Risian Picnic Baskett.

A Joint Log Between Schawnsee and Arch Angelis

Arch Angel waiting on Schawnsee. "Computer, open Risa #1, program Angel 001."

Kat found her way to the holodeck and tapped the console to enter. When the doors opened she stood in Awe seeing the scene she had remembered from the trip to Risa, The place she meant up with Arch after so long of not seeing him after she had left the tribe for Star Fleet. "Arch?   Are you here?"

He poked his head around the corner of the beach pavilion. "Hey there little one." He walked around and into full sight, replete in his beach wear ... extra large picnic basket full of goodies, and blanket in hand ... and grinning from ear to ear.   "Surprise !"

"Arch Its wonderful. Just how I remembered from a few months ago. What made you think of this??" She says with a very large smile on her face.

He looked at Kat, seeing the smile grow on her face, and her face abeam with that exuberance he remembered, "Well it was all I could come up with to properly welcome you, and it needed to be a good surprise. So, I programmed the computer to put us back on the beach at Risa, a very good memory and a great meal," holding up the basket of goodies.

Kat walks over to Arch and places her arms around him giving him a big hug. "Thank you. It is a wonderful surprise indeed. And a wonderful memory." All of a sudden Kat heard something in the water. She quickly turned to see the dolphins poking their heads up out of the water.

Chuckling, "Yeah, I even had the computer program our friends,

although they look and act the same, they are not. They do not have the ability to talk to us as our family back on Risa. The computer has it's limits. Well, shall we go pick out a good spot? I can assure you we have the best one and guarantee you it will not be taken. Another good part of building your own picnic and clear blue skies to boot."

Kat returns her look to Arch. "Yes, let's go," she looks back to the dolphins watching as she begins to move, they follow up the beach front in the water. "So how are you feeling my friend? After your radiation ordeal."

Smiling, "As well as possible...thanks to the good doctor and her staff, and in no small measure thanks to you little one. For if you had not been on patrol and spotted me out cold on that deck, well the out come may not have been as good as it has come out," looking at the Dolphins as they played in the clear azure blue waters.

"No need to thank me. Anyone would have done the same for you, I'm sure. I just happened to be on that patrol that day and happened to be the first one, I guess, in the area after you had fallen." She looks up at him smiling as she's speaking to him, glad to have someone on the ship she actually knows. It makes things so much easier.

"Well, little one, you know that things do happen for a reason. As our elders have spoken time after time, there are no coincidences.  I think you were placed there at that critical time, when you should have been doing other duties, instead you were ordered to make a patrol sweep. Well, what ever the reason, you did in fact start a chain of events that ultimately culminated in the saving of my hide. Now enough of that reflection, it is truly good to have you here and now you can take a few moments to give me the briefing you have been stalling to get around to." He was speaking then not speaking, as he spread the blanket on the spot over looking the water.

"It is good to be here," she said aloud and then when to silent speech with him.  'With you here to help me get acclimated that is,' with the question of the briefing she turned back to the water a moment before speaking aloud once more.  She looked to the sands of the beach and took a deep breath and exhaling it slowly. "Arch I was demoted. For something I should have seen coming. I had an ambassador die under my watch. I am lucky that I am not in a penal colony someplace. The Court martial admiral found favor with me and demoted me and placed me here. That's the reason for the name change. I am now known as Schawnsee only. No longer Kat, Kathryn Swan, or even Cmdr." Kat sighs once again as she sits on the blanket Arch had spread out for them. She looked back up to him with sorrowful eyes.

He placed a gentle hand on her small shoulder. "Well, I knew something had gone awry when I woke up in the sick bay, and saw the ensign pip. No way would star fleet allow a commander to be busted back to ensign unless a very grave incident had occurred indeed." He dropped his gaze for a moment, as suddenly as he had been calm and reflective with Kat, he suddenly grabbed her, and began tickling her sensitive ribs, "Well little one you will always be my little commander," smiling wryly out of the corner of his mouth as he continues the tickling.

At the beginning of the tickling Kat starts giggling uncontrollably. She started grabbing at his hands to get him to stop but wasn't having much luck. Trying to speak between the laughing, "Stop....  Oh  ..  Sto ..pp ....  my ribs....... "laughing all the harder now, " quit!... Ribs.....  hurt," she tries to cry out as she's trying to roll away from him but not having any luck at all.

He continued to tickle Kat as she struggled to get free. Finally he simply jumped up, and headed for the water, looking back at her. He saw her begin to get that, get even look on her face. Grinning he shouted, "Last one out to the jetties is a rotten ballerina egg!"

"THAT'S NO Fair You have a head start!!" She quickly got up and began to chase him into the water. She ran into the water and began swimming after him. She was no match for his strength. She just did the best she could to try to at least catch up.

He looked back at her. He slowed a bit, just enough to stay a length ahead of her. "Come on little one, all that time as a commander has made you a bit soft has it no?" he called back to her chuckling as he swam.

"If I catch you, Ill show you just HOW soft I am not," she calls ahead of her, keeping her strokes even trying not to tire to soon.

Reaching the jetty just ahead of her, he turned and holding out a hand to her. "Come on little one," he placed his other hand in his tote bag that was slung across his shoulder...pulling out a few boiled eggs. "Come on let's take a snack break, before we swim back and pig out on the main course."

She reached out taking the offered hand as he helped her up on the jetty. She hadn't forgotten the tickling engagement a short time ago. She quickly got a good poke in on him to his ribs. "Gotchya back" she quickly steps behind him trying to keep from his reach.

"OOF," he exclaimed, as he saw her go behind him. "OK, OK, we are even. Here you need some protein as well," handing her the hard boiled egg. "But I did win the race." He says smiling.

Kat came out from behind him and took the egg. "Of course you did. You beat me to the jetty, What do you mean you didn't win." She says as she begins peeling the shell off the egg.

"Well, you just caught up with me, at least I can keep an eye on you now, you know what I gave to your grand father before he passed, and now I can better keep that oath," he looked at her devouring the egg, smiling.

She took a bite of the egg, and looked back to Arch's eyes. "The oath to My Grandfather," she looked to the rocks of the jetty, "I still miss him." She lets her hands fall slowly to her side, still holding the remaining part of the egg. She then looked to the sky and thought of her Grandfather and the way he always spoke to her.

Finishing the egg off, "Well let's get back to the beach. We can walk there on the back of the jetties. "We have a lot to catch up on, and we do not have as much time as we had on Risa," motioning her along. "We can talk and reminisce while we eat, and drink. Oh by the way, he is still with us in spirit little one, just in spirit," waving his hand to the sky. "...as are all of those before us, remember the passage of dreams??  That is the realm they abide in now, and will greet us one day when we go to join them at the camp fires of our ancestors, but not today, so smile and be happy, we have each other, and I will always be with you."

She came back to what he said and finished the egg. Kat looked to him and smiled, for she did remember the Passage of dreams he spoke of. "I know they are still with us in spirit but I do still miss him in body. That will take a while for me to get over." She went to the edge of the Jetty and jumped in calling back to him. "Ill beat you back this time big brother!" She looked over and saw the dolphins near her. She placed her hand out and one of them swam under it allowing her to catch its dorsal fin pulling her toward the beach.

He watched as she and the holo dolphin started back towards the beach. "Why that little..."

laughing, he spoke into the wrist link to the computer, "Remove dolphin #2 from program ... now please," as he strode back to the beach. "That should cool her off a bit," he continued onto the beach, and watched as she began to swim. He could hear her small voice grumbling out many swears as the dolphin had simply vanished underneath her. He was waiting as she climbed back to the shore line, waiting with a smile and a towel.

She had one of those 'how dare you' looks on her face. With her mind she scolded him for doing that. 'You always have to play rough don't you,' She glares at him then her gruff look is taken over by a smile. She takes the towel and begins to dry off walking past him to ONLY Then twirl the towel and snap it back at him, getting him on the back of his leg. She then started laughing hard and running up the beach to where he had placed the basket and the blanket.

He jumped at the sting from the towel, and began running after her to the picnic site. "Hey I wasn't playing rough. You tried cheating this time," he pulled up beside her as they ran, he slowed to a fast paced walk. "Little one, I know how much you miss him, but take comfort in the fact he was very proud of you. There is no need to hide what you feel, or try to hide your emotions, we are here, and together now. Let's try to enjoy our time together. Welcome home my little one." He placed an arm around her shoulders and smiled looking down at her face as she smiled.

Kat stood on the blanket listening to Arch's words to her. The smile letting him know she understood. She changes the subject to the lunch he had brought along. "What is for lunch Big Brother. It does smell good."

He reached deep into the huge basket. First pulling out a jar of chilled pina colada, followed by an enormous plate of her favorite BBQ pig, bread, turkey, cheese, and the piece de resistance, his famous 7 layer chocolate cake, and double Dutch chocolate ice cream. "There we go. Now how's that for a feast?"

"You didn't forget a thing." she grinned from ear to ear. "Even down to the cake and Icecream. It is a feast indeed."

As Kat prepared their plates, he poured the coladas into two coconut shell glasses, even putting the little paper umbrellas in each one, nothing too good for them. They deserved it. He looked at the sky.  "Thank you Grand Father, for bringing us back close to each other," he looked back at her and smiled. Indeed two old friends enjoying a moment in time together. "Under the ever watchful eyes of their ancient ones."

Kat looked up as Arch spoke. When he finished she only spoke "A' ho,"  Amen in their native tongue.
