Problem is, I'd also like to see The Pope, The Dalai Lama and a pair of Rabbi's at a bar taking bellybutton shots off a group of playboy models....but its just not gonna happen any time soon. I love DS9 but its a bit obscure for most of the people out there.

I voted No. But, I would like to see a Made for TV Movie. It seemed to be something Alien Nation did well when it went off the air. Give us a little 2 or 3 week mini-series with a localized plot (nothing universe shattering) but would end with Sisko coming back...which then leaves it open for future such TV movies.

I would love to see a DS9 movie made or even a TV Movie. Anything really. I'd settle for a VOY movie (if I had to :D ).

DS9 was always my personal favourite and I could never figure out why it wasn't as popular as the ship-based Treks.

Honestly, and I surprised myself - I voted no. I have nothing against DS9, but as someone suggested, I would rather see a made for TV movie.

As for a motion picture - we need a completely new cast, and one of those "fresh new looks". Love 'em all, but no previous cast members doing a motion picture...maybe in a cameo / supporting role type of thing as a completely new character.

I gotta say maybe to this one. DS9 was not my Favorite Trek but it definately wasnt the worst. I could handle seeing a DS9 movie but It wouldnt make me upset if they didnt make one.

I agree. There is so much that could have been done with the Dominion. That said, it would have become a war series rather than an exploratory series and I'm not sure if that's personally what I would have wanted.

I wait with trepidation on the new film.

See, the problem with DS9 was that they didn't really focus with exploration in the first place. Most people I know after seeing it refer to it as the "Star Trek Soap Opera"...

I think they did enough with the Dominion War. And I can't see a Deep Space 9 movie. Just wouldn't work...

I don't think that a DS9 movie would have to explore the Dominion War. It ended. I want answers (canonical ones please) to what happens to Sisko and Bajor. I've always been really fond of the Bajorans and find the idea that they left the series as a cliff-hanger kind of irksome. It would have been really nice to have everything the series dealt with on a weekly basis dovetail into an ending that wasn't so ambiguous. Does Bajor join the Federation? What happens to Bajoran-Cardassian relations in the aftermath of the War? What is the next threat to come through the wormhole? When is Kai Winn going to get off her holier-than-thou throne and actually do something credible and helpful for Bajor? Where does the relationship between Odo and Kira go now? Do they get married? Can they have children? These are all answerable questions. A movie would be helpful.

And as to this notion of DS9 not being an exploratory series like the others I sound a resounding "What?!" It may not have been a "get in your space-ship and fly around the galaxy looking for touble" kind of a show but it was exploratory in a completely different and, at least for me, much more meaningful sense. It explored the very notion of the Federation. Everything on the seedy underbelly was exposed and run through the mill. It showed that the Federation was in fact not almighty and irrefuteable but flawed and striving for betterment.

Seeking out strange new worlds can't answer everything. A sizeable portion of TNG was devoted to exploring the notion of what it is to be human--every series has had that element to it but none accomplished it so frequently and in such broad strokes as the relationship between Data and Picard. Deep Space Nine was able to take the classic struggle that Roddenberry instilled into his show to a completely new place. One on a more broad, far-reaching level. DS9 was able to reach past the internal borders of a socialist/egalitarian society and comment on what happened to the underdogs and the ne'er-do-wells of old. It reached out for a different group of misunderstood, misrepresented people and tried to embrace them with open minds and helpful hands. And that, afterall, is the point of Star Trek, isn't it?

I personally would enjoy a DS9 movie, TV or bigscreen it wouldn't matter as long as there was one. There was too much of a cliffhanger at the end of the series.

Heh, I'd guess when she finds a way to come back from the dead. Dukat fried her!

I am not sure a DS9 movie is possible. The ending of the series "What You Leave Behind" really brought everything to closure.

Guilty! Comes from not having cable, and not being able to afford the DVDs...

That, and I watch TOS mostly.

Of course, at least two STSF sims (Aegis and Excalibur) address some of these issues.

Sky Harbor Aegis is thick in the post-war Cardassian environment, if memory serves. (May have to visit again just to see how that's going. It seems there's a lot of current socio/political events that could be parallelled - something I expect from my Trek.)

Excalibur is off trying to stablize the post-war Dominion and stave off a civil war with returning changelings (the Hundred) that didn't participate (and lose) in the Alpha Quadrant war. And then there's some formerly oppressed worlds that think the Dominion is weak now - a real fracturing. Again, the strength of Trek: a way to deal with current events in a science fiction format.

Are there other sims that try to answer some post-DS9 questions? I think Republic has been operating in the Gamma Quadrant, too...

The way Agincourt deals with the post-DS9 era is more philosophical than historical. When I started drafting up what the universe would look like 20 years post Voyager, the most important thing to me was did the Federation change philosophically? With the attacks of the Borg and the Dominion, I figured that Federation citizens, Starfleet in particular, would demand a greater assurance of protection. As a result, the voice of deterence became very popular within the Federation assembly. This is why you see prototypes like the Prometheus Class, which has started to become standard by the mid 2390s, and less scientific/diplomatic/explorative-type vessels.

The Agincourt too parallels current events in many respects.

Hells yes I would...the mere concept of a number of seasons followed by movies is practically cannon! I'm sure that they could find content for them, same with Voyager movies, lets see how that (amazing) crew functions in tandem with the rest of the federation. Besides, they aren't letting them put any trek on TV...we need new material! If they can come up with a good set of plots, I would love to see movies that continue both those series, and maybe an Enterprise movie, seeing as Enterprise was awesome and all. I'm not picky, i just want more trek :P
