Mud,Blood,and Pablo Picasso...

Computer begin log...Recording came the familiar metallic voice.

I have finally managed to complete my initial task of overseeing

the erection of the temporary Emergency Medical Temporary

facility with the assistance of Lt.Johnson who has been of great and

much needed help in this endeavor.

This entire project from the construction of the main hospital to the

temporary site has been plagued with numerous incidents involving

injuries, however the injuries have fallen well below the projected

numbers we had estimated in the planning sessions prior to the start

of this project, this could not have been accomplished without a work

ethic of excellence demonstrated by both the staff, and the engineering

crews.

Regretfully there have been casualties involved, one in particular does

come to mind the engineering ensign that ran afoul of a lifting crane, the

ensigns life was spared...unfortunately even the best of surgical and the

best technical equipment cannot totally make whole what the creator has seen fit to create,we are not afterall the almighty..he shall live, and

will probably spend the rest of his years undergoing therapy.

The main problem I am now encountering is a particular independent

interior designer contractor...contracted to assist with the esthetics of

the emergency dept.,By all the rings of nebure this individual in my

opinion has about as much business decorating my emergency room,

and surgical unit as Reno becoming the good tooth fairy.

Today I had to literally run her out of the surgical unit as she was at

work placing a copy of a painting by an old terran artist whom was

named Pablo Picasso, and the color of salmon painted walls are making

me nauseous, what should I expect next..flowers painted on the medical

equipment, all it seems as per her explanation will enhance the calm of

the patients that are in the studio...gods,I tried to explain that if infact

the patient was in my critical surgical unit they would be unable to take

in the tranquil environment that she proposes.

I literally took an hour of our valuable time, attempting to be as tactful

as was humanly possible edifying her on the finer points of a field med

advanced surgical hospital...finally having to shout at her to get her to

understand the patients appreciating Picasso,Rembrandt,or others isn't

the most important thing on my mind,or on the unconscious patient out on my surgical table with possibly their intestinal track,or sternum

open while I am attempting to remove either foreign objects,or a stir up

to my elbows trying to reconnect vital organs, however I must note the

suggestion of classical music in the surgical theatre is a good one.

Computer pause:: He downed the regular half dozen ASA chasing it

with his usually strong cup of coffee..Computer resume::I can only hope

she has gotten the general idea of what an emergency room should be,

hopefully she will leave us alone here... I am sending her to Lt.Reno to

aid and assist him in the decorating of the main hospital, that should be

sufficient in keeping her busy and out of our hair for awhile...End Log:
