It was 08:00 by station time which coincided with the Bajoran capital city, but it was the middle of low watch on the Republic. Marak waited outside the Bajoran temple, unsure whether Lieutenant Kawalas would arrive now or six hours hence when the ship said it was 08:00.

But Kawalas came wondering along the Promenade thinking "I wish I didnt have to come here." As she approaches Marak he asked,"How are your repairs coming?"

"We've managed to replace all the blown ODN junctions. The logistic support we're getting from Chief O'Brien's people is making this go a lot faster."

"Lucky for us that the collapse of the wormhole has relegated this sector to a rear echelon of the war," Marak said grimly.

Kawalas and Marak entered the Temple. Normally quiet, since the Celestial Temple closing, it had been the scene of a vigil. Prylars, vedeks and ordinary Bajorans chanted around the silent Orb, which like the orbs on Bajor had not sent forth a vision since Jadzia's death.

Marak felt Kawalas' tension as they approached the keening assembly. "Have the orbs ever gone silent like this before?"

"Never. At least not in thousands of years of Bajoran history."

"I can't imagine what force could do this. The wormhole is supposed to be stable enough to withstand even a trilithium explosion."

Kawalas didn't reply. Instead she began to try to sing along with the Bajoran priests. Marak couldn't understand the words, but it was obvious they were chanting some kind of lament.  As Kania tryed to sing the Chants she started remembering things about her childhood. She had forgotten that some of her tutors had taught her some of the chants.

They started coming back to her  and she nelt down in Prayer. She lowered her head and didnt look back up for quite a while.
