Kinda a follow up question to my last poll. I first asked what different type of sims would you join. Now, just checking to see how many people would actually have room for another sim. I'm remembering the days when I was in 7 or 8 sims. But that was before marriage, children, responsabilities, and life in general made it's presence known.

I have given thought to joining another (Sky Harbor Aegis in particular), but I think that at this point my sim-schedule and non-sim schedule is full enough. Maybe after I graduate. :P

Actually I'd like to add another sim but it's a bit difficult for me. I can only sim when I don't have classes the next day. Simming at 4 am and having a lecture at 9 am just isn't a good idea. At least not if you want to pass your exams.

I made an exception for Reaent so I just suffer every Friday until I can finally go to bed in the afternoon. If there was a sim at any time on a Saturday I'd probably join.

AHHHH! Two is my limit! Ask anyone who's had the unfortunate experience of me "joining" their sim in the last few years... WHEN I show up, I stare at the screen eating a giant bowl of icecream, not even reading the screen. I'll put my spoon down long enough to make jokes in PM's and type *maybe* three lines to the screen in an hour, lol. I suck. You don't want me. *I* wouldn't want me.

Hey there,

This is an interesting question...and I'm afraid to say that often newer players don't ask "What's my limit?" It honestly depends on the individual and your real life schedule. I know I personally used to be able to support three with some heavy administrative work. Now, that isn't really plausible. Yet on the flip side of that coin, I know of individuals who are on seven and have no problem being fully active (writing logs, etc). Don't know about their social lives though....

Two. At least so long as I'm hosting one or both. I could handle a third, if it was just the right third. If I were just playing, I could probably do four. But at two, I'm kept plenty busy. :P

(Oh -- that's advanced sims. Academies don't "count", in my mind, because I don't have to write logs for 'em. The hour I sit in front of the computer simming is the smallest part of the time commitment, as far as I'm concerned.)

I'd like to join another sim in the future, when my schedule isn't to busy...But not right now.

Well, counting Red Star I have 3 regular sims. I attend the academys if and when I feel like it. But even on the Qob and the Reaent I don't have time to do logs as I once did but I hope to one day rejoin the Again-in-court. Some times I have guested in an "alternate universe/timeline" role for short times but that is it. I really don't have time to take on more sims permanently.

Let's see....started with one. Had two during the alternate Reaent plot. Just joined Agincourt. I could maybe add one more....possibly Talon. ::shrug::

Player wise, I know myself and I would get all wonky after two sims. It becomes a chore rather then a hobby. I like to go all out with my characters, doing bunches of logs and such ("too wordy" comes to mind :P ). I enjoy this, but a third sim would mess with the flow, and probably take away from my other sims. Then again, I may be overthinking this; I do see that quite a few here have three sims going, and maybe I would be alright.

And admin wise, say if I was playing the XO or CO on an advanced sim (and why the heck are people running in terror? :) )...I might be able to make three sims work, provided I was a player on two and the one half of admin on the third.

I am just concerned with joining a third sim (Player), thinking it will work out, and then having to back out on the command team.

Now with all that said - If the right sim came along (as Colonel Harper also stated), I would consider doing a third sim. I'd make that effort to make it all work.

And by right sim I can use my reaction when I found out about the Agincourt launching as an example - I just knew that the sim was for me, and made the effort to go for it.

A factor also for me is simming time. The 10 OClock evening sims just work out better for me then any later ones.

Academy wise, I float; I show up here, there and everywhere. Usually if I am free, and want some academy action, I will pop into one.

And as for the people that have four, five and six (and more sims, maybe on other sites) - y'all make me tired and twitchy just thinking about it. But that rocks that you can do it, and it's great that you go for it! Obviously a dedicated player. More power to ya.

I'm with Huff here, two is my normal limit. Right now, I'm rather content with one. :P

... what is this social life you speak of?

I personally am addicted/insane/obsessed to simming. For the sake of self-preservation, I think I'll leave it at "too many" for most...

I am good with two sims. Even then I get a bit lax when it comes to writing logs. I think I have long bouts of writers block. I fixed it so I hav both my sims right after another and that is enough to give me my fix for a week.

No mas.. no mas! As those of you that know me well know.. I'm on a grand total of six sims here on STSF (Republic, Hood, Arcadia, Reaent, Talon and Challenger). Add in my two academies and you get the picture. I haven't written a log in eons, so I don't really have to worry about writer's block. There's no possible way that I could join another sim. But, still.. I've been able to balance my sims plus my RL schedule for almost three years, so I don't see my schedule changing anymore. Each of my sims have their own unique characteristics and are all very good fun. :P

Well, until recently it wasn't possible to be on all of the sims due to a couple of conflicting times (unless you can sim both at once. :) :P However, I believe that with a few time changes it is now possible for someone to be on all of the advanced sims.

I've known people who've done it. I've even double-simmed myself, twice, for reasons that will hopefully never be repeated. Not recommended. " :P " is right! ::shudder::

Yeah, sometime's it's hard enough playing more than one character in the same sim. :)

I believe I've double simmmed once, but it was so long ago I can't remember the details. Usually when ever I play SGVs on a sim the first thing to happen is my normal character gets knocked out....or falls down a turboshaft ... or something.

What I've know ALOT of people to do is be in a sim AND playing Dragonrealms or someother online game. Usually they're mostly scripting in the other game. If you've played Dragonrealms or Gemstone you know when someones either just finished playing or are playing while simming because chat lines start beginning with ' and random "l" and "inv" start popping up in sim.

Interesting that you'd say that, Colonel. I have only two advanced sims, only one of which actually takes up any of my time. As for academies, I'm an Acadamia Nut! If I could play in an academy every night I would. I enjoy the spontaniety, the total suspense, the ability to play as a cadet (without responsibilities), and playing with people I wouldn't otherwise have a chance to - folks from other advanced sims. And it's probably time to fess up - I have at least five academy personae.

Don't ask.

Oh, I agree Academies are great fun. I particularly like being able to just play in them, rather than host -- keeps me on my toes!! I just meant that in terms of schedule juggling, they're basically a non-issue. Advanced sims eat at least another hour beyond their running time, and if I'm hosting, often a lot more. Academies are more of a 'drop in and play' thing.

A very long time ago, during the height of my simming days, I managed to TRIPLE. Admittedly, one of them was more or less without plot (I think we were drydocked and enjoying shoreleave, or something), but it was still quite taxing. Ah, that good (::Sputter::) ol' days of MSN Chat simming. The trick with it was timing the lulls in with the pick-ups in activity. I'd never want to do it again.
