Oh how could you!

Oh I say! You all seem to have forgotten to send your birthday cards! Not to me you fools, to her royal highness! And no I'm not talking about Dac I'm talking about a big queen! And no I'm not talking about Kroells I'm talking about miss Windsor herself, Elizabeth the second! It was her birthday yesterday and the old biddy is now 80 years old. God save the monarch and may we all throw ourselves to the ground to honour her!

I wish she'd hurry up and die though.

Yes God save the queen from the wrath of Images!!! Maybe you should send her an original Star Trek TOS Red Shirt.

:P

I did actually acknowledge the Queen's birthday in my own way. :)

I'll honour hers when she honours mine. I guess I'll get the telegram when I hit 100, by which time I'll have probably carcked it anyway!

Still, mustn't grumble. As a crown employee we get her official birthday off work so happy birthday ma'am!!

Hmm, what was it that my uncle said?

"Stonehenge is Britain's oldest monument, besides the queen."

What's sad is they actually don't send the telgram anymore. Now you have to apply for it and when you do they only send a letter in the post.

::Chokes in disgust:: You mean I'm striving to live to be a hundred, yes, a HUNDRED years old for a telegram which isn't a telegram? What is this world coming to?

To make things worse, I reckon by the time I get to that age it'll be an automated email with a pixellated image attatched.

Huh, those old people never knew how lucky and easy they had it back in the day when telegrams were telegrams and the word stop followed every sentence.

No wonder the youth of today are wayward!

Hey there,

I know here in the States, Western Union terminated "telegram" services a few months ago...citing a lack of need and cost effectiveness. They do still handle urgent letters I'm told...

What was the reason behind that anyway?

I believe that the stop signified a period at the end of a sentence.

I'm not totally sure. If memory serves it was due to there being no apostophe's, full stops, backslashes etc, and generally dictated verbally into a machine. Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Regardless, Images, the Colonies had decided the throw off the shackles of the seemingly oppressive Hannoverian Crown 230 years ago, so we don't celebrate the Crown's birthday. And now we have our very own "Mad King George". It's a damn shame that we failed to study history, and it repeated itself again.

I do have to ask our British cousins this though: Is the Queen sane?

I'm pretty sure that is just a coincidence.

Indeed, Jack Bauer wouldn't willingly punish us with the likes of Bush...

True, Jack Bauer wouldn't saddle us with the moron, but people like the Christian Coalition, ultra-conservatives, and a dumbing down electorate did. Oh yes, and a conservative Supreme Court.

I believe she is sane, yeah. As for the rest of her family, well I reckon the jury's still out on that one :P

Ahem!

Throttle back on the nasty comments on politics or this thread goes away. It's alright to discuss the Queen (or the President), but when we start getting nasty about it, such as questioning sanity or calling folks names, that's when it has to stop. People feel very strongly about politics (and religion, eh?) and we want to keep the Boards as a friendly, if weird, place to hang out.

Thank you.

Heh. America, cute name. But seriously, one day you'll come crawling back to be our new world colony again and I'm not sure we'll take you. Daddy England wants you back baby, lets go to counseling. I promise I can be the colonial oppresser you want me to be. Just give me a second chance!
