If you had the chance to step out of the normal roles of Federation Starfleet officers on a starship, what would you most likely want to try?

I go with mirror Universe. You get to kill the captain and take over.

Hmmm...That was a really, really, hard choice, but I'd think I would go with the pirates. Arrr...

There isn't really enough material on the Mirror Universe to base a sim on. There is a little more on the Maquis. It spans 3 serieses and all takes place within a defined time frame. It would take some time to gather all the data and analyze it but once that is done you have the basis for a sim if you don't do it in real time. With a Mirror Universe sim you have whole centuries where you need to fill in the blanks continuity-wise, and the DS9 Mirror Universe episodes were just ridiculous.

That's the beauty of alternate realities....who says we're in the same one as whatever pops up on any series. I would actually have any Mirror Universe sim I created be TNG timeline with the Terran Empire intact. Then you can do whatever you want. Terrans and Romulans fighting a war againsts the Klingons and Cardassians, sure. Borg, what Borg? An entire cosmos with No Wessely Crusher...just Think of it!

Be careful what you wish for. In a Mirror Universe Wesley might end up getting a command or getting some booty or something like that. I don't like him in TNG but at least the damage is limited.

Hey there,

Not necessarily. There are "many" "mirror" universes, each having seperated from the standard timeline at different points. One may have been back in the 1600s, others in 2360. Honestly depends on how it is made up. Case and point, the Reaent completed a plot that featured a mirror universe...just one that had "gone different" during the events of Star Trek VI.

Personally, I would have to go with the Federation station/planet. I don't know why. I guess because I know the Federation best, and I like it.

I thought about some of these even before I posted the poll, but I didn't want to bog the poll down with too many choices. Ah, the ever useful "other".

Starbase Aegis.

I went with Rogue/Pirates. Just appeals to the "evil player" side of me.

Starbase Aegis.

That was the biggest that appealed to me about Aegis.

Well Maquis are essentially rogues anyway and I'm sure they did loot and steal from time to time which makes them pirates too.

haha I actually recently wrote a sim on a holographic Pirate program!

so yeah, pirate sim is the way I'd go. And Maquis would be the best way I can think of that working.

Okay, so right now with the voting we have a tie between Mirror Universe and Pirates. Second place with Fed Starbase. Klingons in every form and fassion are voteless.

SO, here's a sim idea. TNG era Mirror universe with the Terran Empire still standing. The Empire has just conquered a Klingon world along the boarder and established a starbase to solidify its power and subjegate the locals. To further agrivate this thorn in the Klingon's side the Empire has enlisted privatiers to raid Klingon commerce lanes.

The sim CO would be the Captain and military governer of the station and planet. The XO would be the captain of the privatier ships. The sim crew would be split between these two.

Storylines; killing Klingons without starting a total war. It's a distant world so you still have to deal with the unknown. Peasant uprisings. Covert assasination missions deep into Klingon territory. Covert assasination missions deep into the Empires territory. "Sin City" meets Star Trek.

I'm still commited to one day running my 'Evil Federation' plotline--a century or so after Voyager, some great turmoil has turned the Federation into a conquering empire, with a handful of rebels trying to restore the 'old ideals.' I guess it could work as the backdrop of an entire sim just as well as a single mission.

Long long ahead, in a galaxy rather close...

STAR TREK

....Episode IV, a New Hope.....

I jest but actually sounds pretty cool.

You mean continuing the Agincourt timeline... :-P

How about a Vulcan or Cardassian sim?

Van Roy's idea for a Maquis sim is an excellent idea. The Mirror Universe is just too freaky for weekly simming. But when you're in the Maquis you've probably been a member of the Federation or Starfleet already.

Outside of the normal roles, I might like to play an agent of the Tal Shiar, Obsidian Order, or maybe even a double agent for Section 31.

There are limitless characters one could play if STSF had its own version of Deep Space Nine. How about something like the planet Nimbus III or a Starbase located near the Federation/Klingon/Romulan confluence?

And Saturday morning might be a better time as well.

We have that.

We have a station/ship in the Gamma Quadrant with the Romulans/Klingons/Federation/Dominion :P

Excalibur :)

Hey there,

Well, let's not get into who was copying who here...

"Sky Harbor Aegis" itself was built by the Federation/Romulans/Klingons and has had officers from all of those empires serve aboard it before too. We have starships too! :)
