I have a medical question....

Heya

I'm still in the Academy but want to specialise in Starfleet Medical. Should I work through all the different ship operations or am I ok to just stick to medical? I'd like to be able to pilot shuttlecraft and so on after graduation.

Any suggestions?? Cheers

Kim

Well, in answer to your question...If you want to try a different post in the academies, feel free to do so. Besides for graduating, the academies are also a good way to try out different post's. But I'm sure if you wish to just stay in medical, that's fine, it just might be full sometimes...

Anyway, that's what I think.

Yes, Philip has it right. Feel free to explore different departments and postings, since it won't affect your Advanced "career." Once you graduate, you can choose the department to serve in and it won't matter what you did in the Academy. In fact, it will be to your benefit to move around while in training, since the GMs look for cadets to have a varied experience (yes, we do talk amongst ourselves about the cadets as they come through training).

Remember that the GMs are looking for someone who understands the basic simming mechanics, someone who can play well with others in the sandbox and someone who can do more than simply react to direct orders from their superiors (without going off the deep end). Those are the folks that graduate. As Philip and others will tell you, many players come back to the Academy to play even after graduation, to have fun and to help cadets still coming up.

Actually I only did one medical academy before I graduated. I asked for a security possition that night but for some reason Jami and LoAmi <Jami was a guest that Wednesday night> gave me a medical posting. That actually was the simm I graduated. Then I joined medical on Excal with only one academies experience.

Well, except for the Caitans. You know what they do in sandboxes.

Don't know. Vulcan is a desert planet so we don't usually find enough water to submerge ourselves one way or another. Spock did swim more or less in The Voyage Home but even then he had to hold onto a whale and a Bird of Prey.

That's why they won't let me go to Vulcan anymore. What do they expect when the whole planet is nothing but sand? :P

I meant to say the Opal Sea.

Of course you did. Getting Romulus and Betazed mixed up is something that happens to us all at the best of times.

::Still highly suspicious:: :P
