:o

...sorry...I showed up at 10PM on the dot.

We probably could have done a department sim, or a runabout sim. There were 4 of us, 5 if you would include the host.

Thats okay though. Hopefully I'll get a chance to stop by next week.

Hey there,

I know for a fact the rooms were being a little "moody" this evening. As a result, I'm certain that played a factor in folks ability to attend...as well as GMs ability to get/stay there. :o

Could be, Fred! But since I mentioned it...and since I have nothing better to talk about (I was talking about this with the folks in the academy room tonight)...what about runabout sims when the rooms are slow like that?

I mentioned it, and someone said that STSF GMs dont like doing them? Is this true?

I always found runabout sims and department sims very fun when you're limited on how many players you have available.

Any GMs in STSF ever done a run/dep acad sim?

In the early, early days of the STSF Academy shuttle and runabout sims were all we could get.  Back then STSF was just building a web presence, had not completed negotiations witn Paramount for advertising on startrek.com, and had a skeleton crew of GMs.

Then again there was that one mission where we started out with about 3 players (including the GM) and by the time the sim ended we had managed to cram 13 of us in a small shuttlepod built for 4!

Needless to say, today, all 13 of us are very close to each other now.  :o

Was the shuttle named Apollo?

Anyone remember the 13?

Canceling a SIM is not something we look forward to doing.  We try to avoid doing it if at all possible.

But sometimes there are situations beyond our control that make it difficult to do a SIM...  be it the host having system problems or things going on in real life, a shortage of players, trouble with the rooms, and sometimes a combination of all of the above.

We pledge to do our best to make sure each of our games run though.  We all are dedicated to providing the best online gaming expierence possible.

Thanks for understanding.

No, not at all.  I find the small sims more fun, actually.  You can make the plot much smaller and more focused (i.e., get back to the ship before the air runs out, etc.)  Obviously, I cannot speak for all of the STSF GMs, but there is no rule or statement of a minimum for an Academy sim.  Thanks

Well, I was there for the entire hour and because pf being the highest ranks (prety bad) I tryed to set up a sim so the peope there could get experience, and a new person doesnt get a bad impression. No one would have graduated. I tryed, but everyone left except T Tor. I almost was about to list the posts, and the mission breif for the 4 people there, but they all left (except R Tor). Even before then, I look on the message boards to see if any GMs were there, pm them, and see if they would have come. The only XO up was T Rex, so I tryed him, but jusr before I sent the PM, he left and didnt get it, I think. Thanks to every one who DID come, and I wish Saria would have stayed another 5 min, because then we would of had 5, 6 people to sim.

Okay folks, here's the deal.  I asked Saria to start this post to let everyone know that a scheduled sim was cancelled.  This is not a thread to bash GMs or complain about how Real Life sometimes gets in the way of simming.  This thread is officially closed now.  Thank you.
