   Herel carefully dusted the pollen off of the dark green leaves that had sprinkled from the fragrant blossoms above.  No need to hand-pollinate the blossoms:  Her mechanical lady bugs did that job for her quite nicely.  But she just couldn’t figure out why only one lime had set so far…  One.  Now the little tree had been putting out blossoms since she’d gotten it, and continued to do so…  But only one lime, near the base, had set.

Hmm…

   Herel moved in closer to eye up the little green beauty.  It had gotten bigger in the last couple of weeks, that was for sure.  And the little patch of light green was darkening up to match the rest, making one perfect evenly-green sphere.  

   Oh, it would be a grand day, the day that the lime would be plucked…  And its purpose must be fitting for the occasion.  How would they use it?  So many ways to use a lime…  But how to use it in a way to fully savor it?  

   She could always ship it back to that weird Trill on the Surak, having read something about limes being an aphrodisiac for Trills, but she was far too selfish for that:  She wanted to be the one to reap its rewards.  Well, okay, she’d share the experience with her friends, but she had to be in on it, too.  

   Mmm…  It smelled good, too.  Okay, maybe that was the scent of the blossoms around it, but hey, the whole thing smelled great.  

   Lime, lime, lime…  Perhaps to flavor some exotic dish?  Nah…  The other tastes in the dish would take away from the lime.  

   Old fashioned gin and tonics?  Hmm…  Well, no, the gin would take away from the lime…

   Just suck on slices?  Eew.  No.

   Lime and fizzing seltzer over ice?  Oh…  Now that was sounding sweet…  Perhaps with a little sugar?  Maybe.

   Hey, now why not just ask her friends how they would best like to enjoy her lime?  Now there was an idea!  Afterall, she had no intentions of having it all to herself:  One lime can be sliced many ways.  Hey, there’s a Vulcan proverb or Ferengi Rule of Acquisition for you.      

   Herel sat down at her desk and quickly dictated a short questionnaire for her fellow crewmates:
