what is the worst star trek ever

60 posts in this topic

I've just watched IV tonight and wow, the plot holes.

Kirk: Can't we recharge the dilithium crystals?

Scotty(miracle worker of engineering): No, there's just no way in this century, we can't even do that in the 23rd century.

Spock (5 mins later): I believe there was some experimentation with nuclear fission in this century. We would be able to harness the photons and recharge the dilithium crystals.

No wonder Kirk jumped out of the Enterprise-B l o l

Watched the movie marrathon on Space on Friday, and liked all the origonals except TMP, III, and V.

The Motion Picture was cheesey IMO, Search for Spock bored me to death, and how he managed to get on that rock of a planet in II was just stupid. I never understood any of The Undiscovered Country untill the end of it.

The Wrath of Khan was awsome, battles were well done.

The Return Home was hilarious, and the fact they had to break the Prime Directive (although it was never mentioned specifcially) just made Kirk look soo much better, except he sucked trying to "impress" whats-her-face.

The one Charicter from the ones I have watched that gets under my skin the most has to be Guinan ( I think thats how its spelled ). Sorry Whoopi I am not a fan. Wesley is tolorable when he is not acting so wesley-ish. On the other end of the spectrum though I am a huge Q fan. I cant believe in Nemisis They killed off Data!! I bet that made Gene Roddenberry turn over in his grave. That is just a sin right there to kill off one of the best in the Series.

I like V. Sure, it's bad, the story is bad...But it's got some memorable quotes.

There are three catagories within the "worst" division. There is Great for all the wrong reasons, Just plain bad, and Painful to watch.

TOS: "Spock's Brain": Champion of the Great For All The Wrong Reasons catagory. It's so bad you can't help but laugh. Fits of giggling fill the room when this episode comes on.

TOS: "The Alternative Factor". Ug, Just Plain BAD. Someone got an idea in there head, couldn't quite make a full story out of it, and made an episode anyways. Guest cast changes, wierd directing, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE editting.

TOS: "Turnabout Intruder": Brain....turning..on..me....for...forcing....recall.......the pain!! Last episode of TOS, they could have gone out with some muscle but nope. 300 years into the future and women STILL haven't gained command of a starship. And apparently for good reason cause when one swaps bodies with Kirk she goes all sissy girly and breaks down in the middle of a crisis. Shatner playing a women trapped inside a man is enough to scare the hell outta anyone!

It may seem like I'm ragging on TOS, but they also have the best episodes with Balance of Terror, Enterpise Incident, Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, and others. TNG has the "Polasky" episodes or atleast that's what I call the ENTIRE second season, which is nothing to be proud of.

DS9 was taking the trek setting somewhere different being on a starbase so they took awhile to find their footing.

Voyager was cursed with mostly unlikable characters. Nothing bad, just nothing to warm up to. Though, "The Swarm" I utterly HATE HATE HATE because I came up with a "Swarm" plotline for Aegis back then which turned out well....and 5 weeks later that episode aired. Wasn't the first or last time we on Aegis saw one of our storylines magicly appear on TV but this was the worst butchering of one.

Enterprise, eh...haven't seen that many of them. I thought they were starting to find a niche with the mini-series'ish thing of having a storyline take 2-3 episodes. But their butchering of timelines and set history was painful...but not too unexpected.

Movies: Shatner's trainwreck of Star Trek V is the only one I find unwatchable.

ENT: I cant even call that Trek, its that bad

I take it back I TAKE IT BACK!

My comments were mostly based on seeing like 5 min bursts of episodes BUT:

After snagging the First Season, I fell in love with Enterprise.

Watching season 3 of it is lessening my liking since its ALL about the friggin Xindi, but that first season.....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I like about it is how different it is...which is contradictory to my previous statement I know.

I just love how it deals with the human perception of what its like to be "new to the neighbourhood". And I think its a good link between the real world as it is "now" and the period piece that is "trek".

Yes I know there are some inconsistencies with canon but you know what? I guess I can let it slide, just because I love trek that much that I can let them mess up every once in a while....unlike some people (glances at Corizon  )
