Having PC Difficulties

Hi all: having some PC issues and wanted to see if anyone here has an answer / advice.

My internet provider is Comcast. I use McAfee for protection. Tonight, when I clicked on Internet Explorer to access Comcasts main web page and my email..I got the following message from McAfee:

Warning: Potentially Dangerous Web Site Detected!

You have been redirected to this Web page by the McAfee AntiPhishing Filter. The Web site you requested is in our list of Web sites that are potentially trying to obtain unauthorized confidential information. If you proceed to this site, you may be at risk, especially if you have clicked on this link from an e-mail.

Remember: Financial institutions will never ask you to confirm personal information through the Internet.

Eh? Keep in mind that I've been using McAfee and Comcast for well over three years now, with no problems.

I can access the internet through "Favorites", other wise I would not be posting here now. Ican not surf the net. I CAN access the main Comcast page through MSN's main page, and then go into my email. I just can't seem to get onto Comcast from my home page. My network setting/ homepage is stll set to the Comcast address.

Make sense? Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the problem's with McAfee, and possibly the latest update for the software. Have you tried McAfee's FAQs page? Granted I know their site has tendencies to be difficult to navigate through...

The most logical answer would be, of course: Aliens.

Does it flag it the same way in an alternate browser?

Do yourself a favor kansas....#1,go to a source where ya can purchase symantecs "norton system works",disable the Mcaffee (colorful metaphor),

and then load norton,it has an excellent install wizard that will take you step by step on the instialliation process,as well as a manual for reference, then

once it is loaded and running,in the back ground run a scan, set your sec levels prior of course(follow the prompts) and live long and prosper from there.....McAfee in my opinion.......and it is mine.......= Bantha poo-doo. B)

{btw...norton in my experience plays much nicer in the internet play pen

than McAfee ever thought of playing nice}...

No. When I pop onto MSN, I can access Comcasts main page, and no McAfee flag.

Since the message seems to be McAfee Spam related, I may just disable the dang filter and see if that works.

I've heard some rather awful things about Norton System Works being a slow memory hog. Then again, all antivirus/anti-spyware/you-name-it-blocking software will slow down a system.

I can vouch for that! My work computer does an automatic scan everyday at 12:30 PM. The scan slows my computer down considerably.

You can probably reschedule that to a time when you don't do actual work. It's not the automatic full scans that slow things down significantly. It's the fact that every time you open a file or download or read email, it does an additional scan.

Unless, of course, it takes you two hours to do a complete virus scan. Like it does on my system.

In safe mode...

Isn't that why there's 3-5AM? (shift appropriately, depending on your work habits)

Yeah, but I'm usually asleep at that time. And if I'm not, I'm chatting with a friend of mine in the PI

It gets more interesting! I now can't connect to Comcast with another browser, so my e-mail is lost in cyberspace. Yep, service is gettin' a call.

As long as I can still get to favorites, I'm okay. However, to my simm commanders - if I disappear suddenly, y'all know what happend. Hopefully, I can get it all straightened out. :D

I love when things go all wierdness.

Oh yeah, I hate when it does that. Then afterwards, my game runs so slow since it consumes so much memory. I cuurently have my scan set at Friday at 8PM. Probably gonna change it to like 4:00 AM.
