"When the smoke clears".......

The small group of fighters had just finished performing ctss (close terrain sensor sweep)of the rubble that appeared to be a base of some type from long ago the

previous inhabitants had left the planetary/base defenses on automatic to greet

unwelcome,or trespassing guest in the system,We had been ordered to take out

the base as a direct assault from the automated system while the fighter group

as well as the Reaent had been "painted" while on approach, and investigating the

junkyard of abandoned ships.

I had just rejoined the group post dropping of our sensor tags to transmit data

we had discovered while in the junkyard,my confederate fighter was suddenly

surrounded by an unknown light/energy beam...obviously it turned out to be a

targeting lock of some unknown type for no sooner than the fighter was lit up

my on board weapons lock detection array alarms began sheriking, indicating a

missile launch from the surface of that planet...that would have been problematic

however, the Reaent was "painted"by that detection beam as well..He thought ok

time to begin evasive maneveurs and possibly either lose the missle,or at least

be able to outrun it enough to be able to reengage it and destroy it...he heard his

fellow pilot V'Roy moving to intercept the missile track and lock on and destroy

it over their comm link...when he was just as quickly diverted by zafira to run an

intercept course and help defend the Reaent.

He watched the hud readout as the numerous incoming blips came into rangeof

the Reaent on an intercept course,2,5,10...20 plus bogies were being launched and

on their way...he rolled, decreased the power to the engines..allowing the missle

to close on him...heh,V'Roy would have said that was a foolish move inviting a

missle to close on you,was an invitation to certain doom...the missle closed to 100

meters,he jammed the throttle to the stop, while pulling hard to the vertical relative

to the missile..he watched as the missle attempted to gain a relock as it flew by..ok

it was dangerously close I admit that, however it gave him the split second advantage

to gain a lock on it...in a move over the top he fired, the missle exploded, now it was

time to rejoin the group and help defend the ship...his fellow pilots were heavily

engaged taking out as many of the missiles as they could, the Reaents own defence

grid was not performing shabbily as well, great crews on both accounts he mused

as he joined the fray.

They looked to be making some headway when orders from the Captain came

over the comm.,we were to find, target and engage the sourse of that energy beam

that just kept reacquering targets, and seemed to be putting up wave after wave of

missiles ...we formed up in attack formation and proceeded down into the planets

atmosphere at full tilt boogy,or attack speed if you will...we practically got a lock on

the beam source simutaineously...Zafira gave the order to go hot and fire at will

we did so...I am not sure which of us could claim the base/beam source as a kill

We were all delivering phaser,as well as torpedo fire...nothing could have lived or

survived that much fire power...the Reaent confirmed the beam source had been

knocked out,I beleive pulverised into dust would have been more accurate...well

that is just my opinion...we regrouped and climed back up to a safer altitude just

in case we missed anything that might resemble a secondary defense system,we

began scanning the ruins of the base......we were ordered by the bridge to do

some low level scans and record the data,I volunteered to take my fighter down low

foolish as it may seem, the confederate fighter is definitely more maneuverable

and quicker to respond in a close combat situation than it's larger counterparts.

besides I knew my friends above had my back, well we started a grid pass doing

a sector by sector alternating altitudes sensor sweeps...we finished and regrouped

I hope the data will give us some kind of helpful information...we can use,End Log:
