"A Friendly Chat"

t'Aehjae and t'Jhiin

February 23, 23--

Sar'vek walked into the mess hall after the crowd had finally cleared from the watching of the Rihan games. Picking up a few fruits from the available food, she looked for a place to sit.

She spotted t'Aehjae in righthand portion of the room and headed over. "May I join au?" she asked.

t'Aehjae looked up seeing the young officer. "Au may if au wish." She was a bit loopy from all the Ale she had drank.

t'Jhiin took the seat opposite the dheno officer and bit into a fruit. "I was pleased to hear of aur promotion, Daise'Dheno. Congratulations."

t'Aehjae again looked up to the young officer. "Hann'yyo, although I am hoping I can keep the post this time. I have learned a lot on working with my fellow officers. I will have to watch N'Dak. He was na happy when he was told. I was in shock. He just lowered his head slightly then looked back to me."

She nodded, recalling her conversation with Aife. "I understand that the two of au have na been on the best of terms in the past. Do au think he will attempt an act of revenge upon au?" As prideful and ill-tempered as the former Daise'Dheno seemed, Sar'vek thought it unlikely. For somewhere amidst his distasteful qualities, she had glimpsed a small amount of honor lurking beneath tr'N'Dak's rocky surface.

I do na believe so. He knows the consequences, He saw what happened when the Enarrien thought we were traitors. I do na think he will try anything, but he will be watchful for me to make a mistake. That is what I will have to watch for."

"Au have been watching ... watching and learning. I do na think he will have the chance to make his move." Pausing, she looked t'Aehjae straight in the eye. "I may be out of line, Rekkhai, but, why were au demoted to begin with?"

"It is a long story. in short, I was na a good officer and the Enarrien could na trust me. She had to have someone she could trust. that is all I wish to say. " t'Aehjae lifted the mug and finished off the remaining ale in the mug.

"I understand," she replied, although she didn't quite understand why 'trust' and 'N'Dak' went together. But Sar'vek was na one who readily made people feel uncomfortable if it could be avoided. "So, if I may be so bold to ask, how did au get assigned to the Talon?"

"I was given orders to report here a few years back. Just basic orders."

Sar'vek nodded. "I was rather surprised at my assignment here. I assumed I'd be on a scoutship ... scientific research and the like. Can't say that I expected this little web of intrigue that is the Talon. But, suffice to say, I'm happy to keep my nose out of the antics." She smirked, recalling the events in Sickbay. "Most of them, at least."

If au know whats good for au, au will continue to do so."

"Ie, I realize that." She rubbed at her nose. "Realized it a little late," she muttered. "I do have a temper. A very short one, I must say. And as hard as I try to tame it, it flares up now and then."

"Normally, I don't have trouble with senior staff. I know my place and am content with it. But there are certain times..." Her voice trailed off. "I let it slip with N'Dak the other day." She sighed. "I should have just let it go."

"Just make sure if au have a tantrum do na have it in front of the Enarrien nor any other higher ranking officer. Au may see the rath of t'Rexan for aus self. It is na a pretty sight to behold." t'Aehjae said this remembering the scars on her own back for almost that same such thing.

t'Jhiin nodded. "Wise advice, I am certain." Glancing at the chrono, she stood again. "Hann'yyo, Rekkhai. I'm on shift in a few minutes, and I do na think that it would be wise to be late."
