I know that the Excalibur has a store and from which i just bought a supercool USS Excalibur ringer t-shirt! but I was wondering how many other simms have their own store?

I know the Aegis had one, Im not sure if they still do. I was so close to buying the "Gromvik thong underwear".

As of the moment, there is no profit for myself in opperating the Excalibur CafePress shop.

 

I know Manticore used to have one, (I'll let A-9 cover that.)

::sigh:: Yesss... the saga of the Manticore store, eh?

 

Maybe it's because it was one of the first STSF stores, so it was up and running longer. Maybe it was just bad luck.

 

Either way, the company that provided us the "storefront" was fine with it for the first 2 years or so and then simply pulled down all of the products. In digging into the reasons (they never contacted me to tell me the store was empty), I was told that my images were too close to images copyrighted by Paramount. They were pictures of the ship in orbit or at starbase, etc. and all of them were created by online artists (none were screen captures of Trek movies/shows). They would not listen to any arguments that these art pieces were unique, so the store remains just a masthead with no products.

 

So, now all I can do is make special orders when people contact me (the company allows you to create items with any image on them, but it won't save the images or display them on a "store"), but that's the extent of the Manticore store. Someday, I will try again, but for now, it stays shuttered.

 

And as for the profit question, I make no profit, selling the products for the face value charged to me by the online company.

Perhaps this is another contest in the making for all of the artists in STSF. Shouldn't every sim have its own logo? :D

 

Or instead of having to submit a dry log each week, perhaps a visual depiction for those of us who just hate reading. :lol:
