New Series Idee-errs

Don't be too sure about that Mr. Kroells.

Well, its true with most people. I cant say you cant change, but dont deny the fact that nearly everything we learn as a young'in, not just religious we learn from our parental units.

If it helps any, I've shed my misconceptions and now follow Jack Bauer as the deity he is...

I assume that like Roddenberry himself, many members of the Star Trek community are either atheist or agnostic, so naturally some are going to have an aversion to the Bajorans and DS9 as a whole.

My favorite parts of Star Trek are the Orb Experiences, the Vision Quests, the Klingon Rituals, the visits to the Temples on Bajor and Vulcan, etc.

My parents are actually hippies but even if they were Christians, there's nothing wrong with handing down the sacred traditions of your culture to your children. My point is whatever you put your faith in, there should be some tolerance for the mystical dimension of Star Trek without making a thinly veiled mockery of someone else's ideas or rejecting them outright.

Well, without getting into a religious discussion, I have to say I am Christian (In that, I mean I believe Christ died for my sins). I enjoy Star Trek, not so much for the visions or rituals, but for the fact that medicine is so much less invasive than in our reality. Though, Im thinking we arent too far from the Star Trek era. Now, they are using lasers to zap vericose veins, cavities, and vision problems. Pretty cool, eh? =0]

Mini series... great idea. It fits in with TV's current trend too. Now to just get the idea to the people who can do things...

I always thought it would be fun to do a series where earth was destroyed or taken over and the federation dismantled just leaving these ronin federation ships. Just see how these "civilized" people handle it when the cowpat really hits the fan.

Might end up as a remake of the (unwatchably awful) Andromeda.

Just had a thought, how about a new angle point, but still in a Star Trekkie era. How about what life is like here on Earth? You know how Star Wars showed not just space goings-on, but battles on Earth, too? Star Trek could dedicate a series to Star Trek: Earth, and have all the nuances of what we love about Star Trek. OK, now dont say, "They already did with DS9." Its not the same! =0]

That was just what I was going to say, till I read this. I think it's be cool to see it...

I also wish they'd make a series where they start exploring the galaxy again. I know they're running out of room, but still...

Star Wars did? I seem to remember it being in a whole other galaxy.

I think she was referencing the fact that SW was multi-dimensional, in that it showed actual combat both planetside and in space, when needed, as well as the political machinations that result when the Sith gets into power.

::slaps self::

God, you'd think I'd know the gender of my own ship's CMO...

I think DS9 reported that Earth was like paradise in that time period, so it might be pretty boring. I don't think you'd see many fights, unless you wanted to do something around the third world war, or during the few hours the Breen were able to perform that raid during the Dominion War.

Though the planet idea could work, though nothing as deep in the Federation that could limit the possabilities. Possibly one of the seedier worlds like the ones O'Brien went to during his stint as an operative. Or have a series that focused on a different planet or situation each week.

Though I too would like to see them back to exploring the galaxy again.

Oh, I dont know. Just like we "Aliens" visit other worlds, they could have other species visiting Earth. =0]
