$18.99 for a world class steak? Heck, we pay more than that for the cheap stuff.

Pffft. When your in college and the $5 value meal at McDonalds look like it'll cost you too much, you can't really buy an $18.99 steak. Like I said... I still wish I had that 50% discount, it'd be nice to splurge a little now and then...

That and we all know that everything in California is wayyyyyy overpriced anyways.

Oh yes, the Latin Quater has some of the most delicious food in Orlando... but this...

THIS is one of the BEST steaks I have ever had in my life. If you feel like shelling out the cash for it, it's worth it. I miss the days of my 50% discount at the Latin Quater, if not I'd have it alllll the time

Well. I'm sold. lol.

More later. :D

Hey...a good steak is so worth it. Heck..go to Michael Jordan's restaruant....

steaks there will run ya $30-70.

That.....is a bit more then I would want to pay, but $15-25 for a good steak is well worth it. Above that, you're paying for the name...

Ok..so let's do this then....instead of my annual seafood dinner....let's make a slight change...heck, we've done seafood for the last 10 years now....

New menu.... Beef and Booze.... or Meat and Mojitos!!

Well, it was Blu and crabs, like Blue Crabs. We need to come up with something catchy now. Maybe Blu's Booze?

It's all about the "Bear" Necessities song once sang about. Well Since I am not going to check in baggage, Space is going to be tight to say the least!

I was recently talking to some Floridians about July..and they looked at me and said.."You're going in July???" I found that a humorous yet interesting take. On trips to Vegas I knew one needed sunblock. But I didnt have to worry about a Tropical like Atmosphere like Florida.

So I ask thee Floridians or people who have been to Florida in July what are the things you should take...(beverages aside ,and keep it on topic here please...)

The two things I have been thinking about are ....umbrella (portable) and DEET.

Heard the Mosquitos love it down there.

Feel free to add on . Thanks

area...do take sun block

don't take up valuable carry on space with something you can buy (for the same price you pay at home) at any corner market

umbrella

bah ... you're not made of sugar, you won't melt

a must, plenty of liquids to keep hydrated

we'll make a target/wal-mart run for the essential beverages & snacks

and keep a shelter (near) in mind as the weather during summer there changes rapidly at times ...and have fun.. :D

Don't worry about the weather ... Eagle is right, just HAVE FUN!

Don't forget your swim trunks, sunglasses (Dac has a convertible) appropriate clothing for dinner, dancing, and sightseeing. 66 days!!

I don't understand. The hotel supplies innertubes... What else do I need? Oh, right, mojitos! But they make those there, you don't have to pack them.

(Yeah, yeah, I have an ample supply of SPF-Million so I can stay a pasty cyber nerd).

ROFL! Between your SPF-Million and my SPF 4 we should be covered!

Bah...don't worry about the SPF...the smoke from the brush/swamp fires will keep the sky a nice smokey grey and will block out any hope of sunshine.

Oh, by the way, they've had to begin closing the state.....maybe they'll get a hurricane to put it out

That section of I-95 is about 2 miles south of me, it's not fun right now with the smoke in the morning. You step outside and you can smell it, like the whole town is blanketed. Not to mention it's causing some horrible haze for flying.

So, basically you're saying it's L.A.'s shore leave East?

Yea for air pollution...this ought to be great. I'll be in at the bar..... ::smacks Fred and Noah once again for cheating and manipulating the vote...we could be in sunny Nevada:::

By the way, we're getting closer to having that possible Space Shuttle launch while there. The launch window has been narrowed to July 1-19.

Shuttle Launch update

((I hope I did this right))

Bob and I got to see a shuttle launch once. It was glorious! It was the launch before that of Challenger. I only remember that because he said he was so glad we didnt witness the one that exploded in person. If you all get to see it this year, please bring your cameras. Its an experience you shall never forget.

Okie dokie ... for those of you that are sitting on the fence himing and hawing as to whether or not you are going to ShoreLeave it's time to make that decision. Less than 60 days now and I'm sure room availability is getting limited.

Dig into those piggy banks, mow those extra lawns, wash windows in the intersections ... whatever you need to do to join us. You won't regret it. (we may, but that's a risk we're willing to take)

Fortunately for me, all the good stuff is done in the ebay auction I was sucking my credit card dry on... whew. (It was movie props from two of my favorite non-Trek movies - I'll tell you what I got around the pool). So... I'll book a flight as soon as I pay off enough to do so, lol. Dang. I hope they don't put any more cool stuff up. ::must not bid:: ::must not bid:: I need a better job. I did reserve a room. I hope there's a freezer on the grounds big enough for our special buckets... Mmm... lime.

Shuttle Update: Moving Discovery to the launch pad this Friday. With them moving this early, it is most likely they are going to still shoot for that July 1st launch date, but who knows, it could be raining and still pushed back til the group is there.

Nerd Repellant? What, you don't want to hang out with the rest of us?

Yes, we are less than 7 weeks from ShoreLeave. If anyone is planning on attending, please let me know at [email protected] so that you can be added to the mailstring and don't forget to make your hotel reservations before the special deal for us is over.
