Personal Log SD: 0602.09

Computer, begin personal log.

*Confirmed, Officer's Personal Log Recording*

Morningstar has been atacked. We were trying to ascertain what was on the dead ship that we encountered when all the sudden we started taking hits. We were taken completely by surprise, so we had not had our shields up, not like they worked anyway in this hellhole they call the Expanse. After we fought off some of the fighters, I realized that our hull must be weakening. The Chief sent me to repair a weak spot in the hull, which was no challenge, but was a sign that more trouble was to follow. Admiral Day ordered a retreat, but we didn't get very far before we were intercepted by more fighters. Knowing this could be trouble, I kept my repair kit handy and monitored the hull's condition in Engineering, while Lieutenant Admiran was trying to determine a way to get our shields functional. If he succeeed, it would certainly take a lot of weight off of my shoulders as far as damage control, but there was simply no way to get the emitters to hold a constant grid. With the interference by radiation in the Expanse, the harmonics would constantly be resetting themselves, offering us no protection against the Jem'Hadar weapons. In my opinion, there is no way of getting ourselves out of this mess. Wee are outgunned 5 to 1, and unless Admiral Day can use some of his brilliant tactics, we might as well just surrender now to save our own hides *Explosion in background* Computer, end personal log.

*Confirmed, Officer's Personal Log Saved*
