Triage of massive Proportions...

Subject: Triage of massive Proportions...

Flip looked over the contingency plans he drafted to  manage the incoming throngs of refugees to the camp. Even  with an estimated 80% infirmed rate,  the medical staff would still be swamped. He would submit the  plans to Dr. Stewart and Dr. Herel for approval or revision.

First step would be to seek out any healthcare providers amoung the refugees, and enlist thier aid.  Five triage teams would be sorting out the incoming refugees to three levels of care.

The first level of care would be those with minor injuries, in  the initial stages of diseases,  treatable with minimal action. They in turn will be utilized to assist in the care of  levels one and three.

 Care level two patients would be those with acute, traumatic injuries,  where life saving measures may be implemented to save the patient.  These types of patients will recieve priority in care, three surgical teams are prepped plane side, and two teams are on standby on the ship.  Emergency transporters are on standby as well for any condition requiring more sophisticated treatment.

 Level Three patients are those with chronic illness, progress to a point of long term treatment, if at all posible. These also include trauma cases requiring massive treatment with poor prognosis, such as comatose, paralysis,  complete bioassistance for major systems,  etc.  These type of patients will be placed in stasis chambers to be treated at a later date when the level of acuity lowers, or the manpower is more freed up to handle these cases.

 Flip leaned back after reviewing his plan.  He also noted that protien supplements could be distributed by the triage teams as they make thier assesments, they also could innoculate and administer antibodies to the high risk refugees....

                                  =========/\=========

He looked back in the clinic and saw Ravel sleeping on Mita's lap, with Mita singing a lullaby of some sort,  catching Flip staring at her,  stops for a moment and stares back,  and for a moment they are both motionless.

After an eternity passes by, Ravel shifts in Mita's lap, causing a smile to erupt  between the doctor and the patient , as Mita looks down once more on the young boy on her lap, strokes his long spindled hair and begins to sing to him once more.
