I rarely put much faith in my daily horoscope reading and I'm not sure how much faith I put in the standard "profile" of my sign, which is a scorpio.

What sign are you and how much faith do you put in a horoscope? Does your sign describe you? When I do read my horoscope, it's from horoscope.com. According to them, myself, a scorpio, has the following traits:

Passionate, vibrant, magnetic, perceptive, emotional, sensual, alert, willful, determined, resourceful, purposeful, directed, dominant, ambitious, fearless, committed, intense, but can be obsessive, extreme, vengeful, jealous, spiteful, unforgiving, bully, menacing, possessive, arrogant

Does your sign description describe you? Or do you think it's a bunch of mumbo jumbo?

It's generally mumbo jumbo, though I do share some charateristics with my sign; my sign being Virgo.

I think the Western astrological chart calls me an Aquarius. I had to look up it's characteristics here.

Aquarius is male. Well, I'm male too, so, I guess there must be something in it for half of the January and February birthdays :-)

As for the rest of it -- I share some characteristics with my sign (and all the others too).

Astrology is bovine scatology.

I link astrology with any other occultist practice and believe that it should be whole-heartedly opposed.

Given the number of Christian scholars who studied astrology, I think you'd have a hard time making that case. ::grins::

Personally, I think it's fun. And yes, my sign is very like me. Or I'm very like my sign -- whatever.

Astronomy ought not to be confused with astrology. Astrology claims that the stars and celestial bodies can influence human behavior (personality and actions alike) and that the position of these bodies can foretell something about the future.

There were many Christian astronomers, but astrology is condemned at least a dozen times directly and several more indirectly within the Bible. If these so-called scholars were studying astrology, they were studying a false doctrine.

Today, astrology is opposed by Evangelical Protestant Churches as well as the Roman Catholic Church.

I'd rather not turn a harmless fun thread into a theological debate. Email me sometime and we'll talk about it.

I'm a Scorpio. Too many of you know me personally for me to deny any of Snoopy's allegations towards my people.

The point of this thread was to provide our opinions on astrology and my opinion was challenged. That's fine. I should always be prepared to defend what I believe.

In my opinion, I don't see this thread as harmless, because I don't see astrology as harmless. It may be a minority perspective here, but it is a legitimate perspective nonetheless, and one that should be represented.

Thanks for understanding. :P

I put little, if any, faith in astrology. Some of the theories behind it are interesting, but its general concept goes against my grain.

Traits of Pisces

On the bright side...

Artistic, kind, sympathetic, intuitive, visionary, sensitive, adaptable, receptive. I'll buy artistic, intuitive, and adaptable.

And on the dark side...

Impractical, vague, careless, spiteful, manipulative, confused, weak-willed, indecisive, easily led astray, greedy, immoral Manipulative and greedy, at times.

Compatible with Pisces, Libra, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio. Incompatible with Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini, and Aries. Opposite sign - Virgo.

Is it possible that they don't get it right, but that we find ways to make our life fit to the description? I suppose the only way to tell would be to look at other horoscopes or signs and see if those also describe you. How often do you read up on other signs? Most people are only interested in your own.

Do you think people mold things that happen in their day to their horoscope or find events in their day that reflected that horoscope?

I often read other horoscopes for precisely that reason. Interesting how almost all of them could be adapted to you. :P

I am a Cancer. My Chinese sign is a Tiger (Woot!).

Other then a casual glance, I don't put much stock in the horoscopes. Although it is a bit wierd and fun when / if a daily prediction comes true.

I do share some qualities with the Cancer and Tiger signs. One cool aspect is I always (and still do) had a thing for Tigers from the time I was little. Found out a few years ago that my sign was a Tiger and went "whoa". :P

And yes Garnoopy, I think it's entirely possible that people mold their days to their horoscopes.

My Chinese sign is a Rooster:

The Rooster is the strutting peacock of the Chinese Zodiac! These quick thinkers are practical and resourceful, preferring to stick to what is tried and true rather than taking messy, unnecessary risks. Roosters are keenly observant. It's hard to slip anything past a Rooster, since they seem to have eyes in the backs of their heads! This quality can lead others to think the Rooster is psychic, but that's not generally the case; instead, this Sign enjoys a keen attention to detail that makes it a whiz at anything requiring close analysis. Roosters make great lawyers, brain surgeons and accountants, to name a few of this Sign's possible occupations. Above all else, the Rooster is very straightforward and rewards others' honesty in kind.

Roosters aren't shifty or cagey and have no interest in hiding behind a facade. They are the proverbial open book, telling the truth and keeping their word. If you show your hand, the Rooster will respect you for it. This kind of trusting behavior can tempt tricksters to pull a fast one on the Rooster, but that would be a bad move! Remember, this Sign doesn't indulge in flights of fancy and keeps those eyes wide open at all times.

Roosters tend to be perfectionists and expect to be in control, especially over their appearance. Primping and posing for the Rooster can go on forever! Being noticed and admired is an aphrodisiac for Roosters, and they can go a long time on a few kind words. Roosters also adore being out on the town, especially if they're in the company of adoring friends. The Rooster will also be the best-dressed one of the bunch -- style counts with this Sign, regardless of the cost.

Roosters also expect to be in control of their surroundings, including whoever happens to be in those surroundings. Roosters keep an impeccably neat house and expect their lovers, housemates and family members to maintain the same high standards of dress and conduct as they do. This can cause problems with other, more relaxed types who just want to be accepted as is. The Rooster needs the right partner, one who understands this Sign's basically conservative nature. With the right person, the Rooster can be the most loyal, trusting and supportive mate around, one who bends over backward to please its loved ones. Some Signs may just end up feeling hen-pecked, however.

Roosters need to learn to value their heart and soul as much as their good looks. Their excellent people skills and sharp minds are qualities that others will appreciate as much as a pretty face. This Sign would also do well to learn to adopt the philosophy of "live and let live"; perhaps an appeal to the Rooster's logic -- that it's inefficient to waste time nagging others -- will help this Sign learn to let others be whomever and however they are.

The most compatible match for a Rooster is the Ox or the Snake.
