"Spatial Trouble"

Joint Log - Marak, Alpha Orion

"We've emerged from the spatial anomoly, Commander."  Alpha's hands streamed across the Republic's Science II control panel, the blinking lights and computer tweeps showing the status of the anomoly the ship had recently discharged from.  As quickly as they had been swallowed in, the anomoly had spit them out..

Commander Marak's face contorted with many internal demons, while he strived to stay on the task at hand, "Understood.  Track our location, as soon as possible.  Divert primary deflector dish functions to the upper EM band."  He looked down quickly, beginning to relay the specified clearance requests to the OPS station, while pushing certain thoughts into the back of his mind.

The android's hands acclerated, triggering the dish modulations.  Star charts correlated locations while the primary sensors shifted for the systemized spatial analysis.  "Alterations completed.  Location tracked and confirmed, bearing 213 mark 981."  Alpha knew what that location entailed, but his voice showed no emotion or pause.

"What?"  Marak's face again contorted, but this time with due protest.  He looked down to check the scan, and frowned at the results.  "Right in the middle of the Rihan Neutral Zone"

"Correct, sir,"  came the androids impassive voice.

"So, lets go over this again."  Marak looked left to see the science counterpart showing no loss in thought, but only a true aspect of scientific curiousity.  His mind had calmed a bit, and things were beginning to present themselves more clearly.  The spatial anomoly held consistency outside, with the Mendall nowhere to be found, and the job of finding a way to return everything 'quick and easy' back to normal had turned into a six hour long

duty shift.  Fatigue was also showing..

Alpha looked up from the loss of thought, his mind analyzing the data for the three-thousandth time.  He almost began to speak, but caught himself intime to watch Marak begin again..

"There is a high amount of aneterion particles in the area at the time of the anomoly's formation, as well as a light subspace charge.  The Republic gets swallowed in, as does the Mendall, but she is nowhere to be found."  Marak paused, tapping at the console for needed information.  The scans clearly showed what his mind had came up with.  "And, the presence of the anomoly still out there, but not the Mendall herself, suggests that it's some

kind of transdimensional, translocational anomoly."

"That would have been my surmise as well, Commander."

"Are there any known forms on record of this type of anomoly, utilizing both forms, locational and dimensional?"  Marak couldn't remember any himself.

Alpha paused for a moment, only indicating the reason by a simple.."Accessing."  Neurel, duotronic nets began the task of analytical recall, diverting the necessary functions for the task.  Another few moments passed as his minds returned to normal.  "Negative, sir.  My records indicate no such mix of anomoly.  There have been many filed occurances of single, either locational, dimensional, or other such events, but no mix of both locational and

dimensional."

"Well, then I suppose we are gifted,"  Marak replied with a sarcastic tone, "Begin a full spectral analysis of the anomoly itself,  I've got a feeling that since we are in the Rihan Neutral Zone, we need to find a solution...and one extremely quick."

The two officers leaned to the science consoles, and began their work.
